They sell the Audi to me and maybe make a few bucks off the other guys trade I guess???

I guess if they can get his trunk for real cheap... Maybe Steve or Cord will chime in.

Well, if they haven't been washed for a while I'm sure they could steal them!

I've already gone on record saying I think this whole "convenience trade" business is crazy from the dealership's perspective. Maybe I'm just used to Alberta's positive retail environment. I think it would be a huge PITA to have to participate in these schemes just to sell a car.

Julie; a dealer always gets the trade cheap or they don't make the deal.  These Newfie "convenience" deals are done specifically for retail sales tax purposes.  So this Envoy would need to be in Hammy's name if it got traded against the Audi.

If Hammy is determined to take advantage of a sales tax credit he could do a swap (Pilot for Envoy plus cash) and then trade the Envoy in on the Audi.  However, that is fraught with problems.

The number one issue in all this is:  is the Audi priced right?
And is there a good indy mechanic close by ;D

The audi is priced at 33,900 with winter tires and 3 1/2 years bumper to bumper warranty remaining.  Price seems reasonable to me.

SO now the $13,000 offer guy is offering $13,500 but he wants to trade his 2007 GMC Envoy in on my Pilot at the dealership while I do a convenience deal on the A4.  I am not sure if that is even possible but I sent an email to ask.

You're going to give Steve an aneurism  ;D

Keep going!

Hammy what are the exact details of this A4  ???   Auto or manual, full jammer or the base trim model ??  Mileage is very nice.  Do you folks use road salt on the Rock?

What have the Audi ppl offered on the Pilot?

Automatic, base trim (it has a sunroof but I think that is on the base model) and yes we use tons of road salt from december to march.

The dealer says he will take the 2006 Envoy in trade against the Pilot on the convenience deal but will charge $400 processing fee.  Of course they have to appraise the Envoy etc.... Its kind of wierd to trade a 2006 envoy on a 2007 pilot isn't it?  Any way it's becoming quite a nuisense.  Even I have my limits......

Envoy must be problematic and the owner wants out before it becomes a money pit....

Not in the least.  A 5 year old Envoy is a POS and that Envoy owner knows it.  Smart man.

Hammy; just for the hell of it, walk us thru the entire process step by step.  Let's start with the Pilot?  To whom does that go first?

My understanding is:

I "trade" the pilot in against the Audi.  The dealership then "sells" the Pilot to buyer for the same price as the trade. They take the Envoy as trade against the Pilot and then they are left with the Envoy.  The dealership does the first trade (convenience deal) for free but then want to charge for the second trade transaction as well as the sale so they make twice the admin fee on the deal, ($400 X 2).

Hammy doesn't have a whole lot of leverage though because: (a) he wants to get rid of the Pilot; and (b) he wants that Audi (I think). The dealer doesn't have to do the Pilot/Envoy convenience deal for him.

What's the Audi dealer allowing $$$ for the Pilot?
