So it is that time of year again, the 2012 autoTRADER Buyer's Guide is out as of today (or Monday).  It is a new car guide with 350+ new models currently on sale in Canada.  It features full specs and write-ups on each vehicle.  This year Jonathan and I got to spearhead the guide which was pretty cool.

Before you discount it because it comes from autoTRADER know this:

  • Most specs are Jil McIntosh's from this site tirelessly scraped together by James
  • Vehicle blurbs were completed by top Canadian journalists such as John LeBlanc, Peter Bleakney, Chris Chase and more
  • Feature articles written by autos.ca own Paul Williams, Jil McIntosh, Greg Wilson, Peter Bleakney, James Bergeron, Michael Schlee and Jonathan Yarkony
  • Other articles were written by Michael Bettencourt, John LeBlanc and Allan Britnell
  • One of James' Day-By-Day Reviews is published in the magazine featuring a few user comments from this forum

Those attending the Toronto Autoshow can pick it up for free as part of the program guide (it is inside it).  Those in the rest of Canada can buy it from your neighborhood magazine store.  I do have a few copies I could mail out to some forum people if they can't make the autoshow....not many though.

There are, but not as many I would have liked.  We couldn't get a stand alone autos.ca page ad approved sadly.  There is "More Specifications on Autos.ca" at the bottom of the 100 or so buyer's guide spec pages and mention of the site in your day-by-day review.

Would that be the G37S M6 or the plain Jane Auto Coupe or AWD Coupe?

They wouldn't approve promoting their own site?  This is disheartening...

Money talks? FFS, all we're hearing is how "we need more web traffic!" There are Trader ads plastered all over Autos.ca; it'd  be nice if that door swung both ways.

Trader is plastered full of autos.ca ads too.  I always get one or two banners every time I load it up.  :)

I'll talke a free copy too - but honestly, it'll be read on "the throne" along with my C&Ds!

Mike, nice to see you're getting the Nissans to review.  Too bad it's a little too early in the year and their actual NEW offereings won't be out yet (next Altima, Sentra, Versa hatch, Pathfinder, Titan).  Maybe later in the year you'll get them...
