Michelin Pilot Sport Cup.  A treadwear rating of only 80!!  Some peeps are wearing these out after LESS than 2,500kms on the road!

Ouch.  Make that double ouch, when you consider that TireRack will sell you 4 PilotSports (2 285/30ZR19 front, 2 335/25ZR20 rear) for the low, low price of only $2110!! (Plus shipping & tax...)

meh, once the pilot sports wear out, throw on a set of Hercules

A little surprised the GT-R got beaten (by a not-insignificant margin) but the ZR1. Very impressive machine, that.

Why would you be surprised?  The ZR-1 is using street legal DOT RACE tires.  Michelin Pilot Sport Cup.  A treadwear rating of only 80!!  Some peeps are wearing these out after LESS than 2,500kms on the road!  Good for seconds per lap.  Wished they tested all cars with the same tires.

BTW....the GT-R uses plain old rubber....Potenza RE070R.

Hey, it is what the factory installs and what consumers get.  It is a moot point.  It is like saying "Man, I wish all cars came with AWD like the GT-R to even the playing field".  The Viper ACR took things even further with it's removable front splitter.

Well people harp about tires because its the easiest thing to change and has a massive effect on performance.

AWD vs RWD however would be incredibly hard to change and might make you go slower when all's said and done :P

The ZR-1 is an amazing machine, plain and simple.  It's the biggest, baddest dog in the Corvette kennel, and no doubt it is one fast car.  It, like the GT-R, takes on the most expensive of the exotics, and opens a can of whup-a$$ on most that dare to challenge.

Personally, I love the Corvette.  It looks exotic, has so much power it's nearly insane, and can be bought from a Chev dealer and serviced there too.

But, the Nissan is like a fighter jet. It's all function over form.  Nissan engineers just checked off the boxes of the stuff they wanted, and then wrapped some body work around it, and made sure the aero worked.  Fighter cockpits don't have spindly seats or hard to find/use controls.  The Nissan's interior is similar in thinking.

Either is a superb choice.
No place I'd rather be...

But having both would be awesome.  8)

AWD makes the GT-R more appealing to me.  Foul weather use.  Apparently, Vmango says if there is any moisture on the road (even from someone spitting!) ZR-1s are uncontrollable...
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Either a bad driver or bad chassis.  Ask Snowy how much fun we had drifting the Supra in the snow...:)
