For Christ sake Canuck35 is from NB, know what I give your post no credibility whatsoever, there ;)

He might be from Canada, but here is the letter I had to ask to get a copy of:

Dear Infiniti G35X Owner:

Infiniti is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction.  One of the many superior features of the award winning G35X is its excellent braking performance.  This performance is due in part to advances in materials technology inherent in the brake pads on model year 2005 G35X sedans.  However, that superior performance can result in these customers sometimes experiencing greater brake rotor wear than they may have experienced with other vehicles they previously owned or leased.
What Infiniti Will Do

To ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, for a limited time, Infiniti is offering to reimburse owners for out-of-pocket expenses related to brake rotor replacement for 3 years from the original in-service date or 60,000 kilometers on your odometer, whichever occurred first (the “Program Period”).

This brake rotor reimbursement program covers brake rotor replacement performed when required because of rotor wear during the Program Period. The reimbursement will only be eligible for the cost of the brake rotors, and will not cover other parts costs, or labour expenses, to a maximum of $275.00.

What You Should Do

If you have previously had your brake rotors replaced during maintenance to your vehicle prior to your receipt of this letter or during the Program Period, you may be eligible for reimbursement of those expenses.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your dealership or the Infiniti Information Centre at 1-800-361-4792.

Please note all claims must be submitted within 90 days of receiving this letter.

Thank you for your purchase or lease of an Infiniti vehicle.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
NISSAN CANADA INC.
INFINITI DIVISION

And you received this letter just last year, correct?  Five years or so after the fact.

My point is that this should of been resolved at the dealership back when you actually had your G35x.  There was a TSB issued for this and your dealership should of taken care of it.  Countless other Canadian owners, including myself, had the issue resolved back then at zero cost.

I agree.  The original dealer definitely should have dealt with this.  That being said, since the dealer refused to take care of it, I would have thought their head office would step in when I complained to them.  Infiniti is their luxury brand with a promise of outstanding products and service.

If you want more evidence of the problem, just google "brake defect Infiniti" and tons of sad stuff like this will show up

No additional evidence is needed.  It was a well known issue way back then.  And at the time Infiniti stepped up to the plate and offered a 3 year 60k km warranty on the rotors and pads.  IMHO, your dealership is at fault for not implementing the TSB issued by Infiniti.

I think we both agree that this problem could have been solved if the dealer had dealt with the situation properly from the beginning.  Where our opinions seem to diverge is around the remedy.  Once I made it clear to the people at Nissan/Infiniti's head office that I wasn't happy paying out of my pocket to fix a manufacturing defect, somebody should have picked up the ball.  If there was a TSB offering free brake replacements, someone at head office should have forced the dealer to address this or solved the problem themselves.

When I buy a car, I pick the make/ model first. Then I choose the dealer to buy from.  Responsibility for product defects like this one dont rest solely with the dealer.  The manufacturer is equally responsible.  And if there is some rogue dealer that chooses to disobey TSBs, the manufacturer should deal with it. And if you think I am the only one who has had this problem, look at this thread

Wow, so did they try to get you to replace them every 12 months???

I guess they expected me to!  All my other vehicles lasted 100,000 to 160,000 kms before even needing pad replacements.  That's why I knew they were feeding me BS. So I traded the car in on a Toyota. Nissan/infinity lost me as a customer forever at that point.

I Agree with you a hundred percent man this company lost me as a customer as well when i returned a lease (G35X 2006) and got a bill of almost 5 thousand bucks for brakes, tires, some fluids, and a few other things they decided to try and rip me off for.. its sad how much money you make these dealerships and they go screw you every way possible to get you for every penny.

So they just replaced perfectly good parts on the car for no reason and charged you for it?  The more you talk about this the less sense is makes.

$1400 for pads and rotors?  People really need to either learn how to do this stuff themselves or bring it to an Indy as I'm sure that can be done for 1/3 the price.

Ding, ding, ding.....$1400.....do you realize the kind of aftermaket firepower you could have gotten for that......the laziness of some people blows my mind!!

They claimed to have replaced the parts i wouldn't say they were perfect since i drove the car around and did main changes on it such as the oil and filter and stuff i had the car for about 48K so i don't think i needed to replace every one of those parts since the car was only at like 65K when i returned it.. so obviously to resell the car for a higher value they changed every part even parts that were still half life and decided to bill me for all the work i don't think theres much more to understand other than i was ripped off.. the tires were not full of thread obviously i am not going to buy a set of 4 tires and give the car back since i was already paying 850 a month before insurance or anything else.

You were not ripped off and you clearly have no understanding how leasing works.
