Brilliant!  A wet practice run.  Furthering Quad's lake side experience; Gord, after Wiarton bare right and enter the "Reservation"

Been there.  It sure is beautiful.      No issues with Miss Jetta, though.

No, flying over 2+ hrs is a hard go. Say, Shanghai in March?

I've done this heaps in my Jeep Cherokee. I took a two month rod trip across the USA (some bits of Canada too) and I alternated sleeping in my Jeep with getting a cheap hotel room every few nights. KOAs, forestry campsites, private campgrounds, Wal-marts, Flying Js, dry camping on BLM/Crown land, all sorts of places.

My g/f and I also did a three week road trip through BC and the Pacific Northwest on our way to/from a friends' wedding where we did the same thing.

With the seat back folded flat and the seat bench removed entirely (pops out with one little button in a Cherokee), I'd store our bags directly behind the front seats, lay sleeping pads over the cargo area and bags, stash the cooler in the front passenger seat (the rest of the gear was in the ski box). With enough sleeping bags and blankets it actually was very comfy - but to be fair, we're both wee short-arses.  ;D

Occasionally in a busy Wal-mart or truck stop I'd lock up tight. In most cases it went like this: on warm nights we'd leave the rear hatch open and drape mosquito netting over it. On rainy nights  we'd do the same with a big tarp.

I'd love to have a kitted out expedition vehicle, but the ol' Jeep does just fine for my dirt-poor budget.

Heh Safristi, did you read analysis on up to 78% savings on Autos.ca news items (from Go RVing) today.
Where's your scottish pride?  Sounds like you are in the 'camp' who wants a Cdn. "Four Season's" Five Star experience
when traveling.  You have not tasted my poached eggs and kippers scottish traditional and strong coffee for Breakfast.
(although my scottish roots goes for MacDonalds Seniors Coffee and Bran Muffin as best deal).

Give me your favourite bbq meal and I can do it better, with better ambience than any Four Season's.
You may wish for a Concierge but camping is the real deal experience.

I'm at the point in life where I think roughing it is for the younguns.  I camped my way to Winterpeg a couple of years ago.  Slept in the car instead of the tent when the blackflies and mosquitoes were swarming me in northern Ontario.

Where are the showers and flush toilets. Do they deliver Pizza and Chinese food there?

Crossville TN was snow & ice (it did not melt off 'til 10:30 A.M.) and now in Fort Meyers and it's chilly--Hampton Inn as a result.
Had great stone crab (2 sauces-mustard & butter) and draft Michelob light.  Thought about it for the 11 hours.  (11.5 to get to Nashville on Tuesday.).
Scratch the Camping but seafood terrific.  I'm taking in location where stone crabs are weighed and boiled at river berth tomorrow.

I should have mentioned after dining at Loveless Cafe, an institution in Nashville, the southern waitress put me on the
Natchez Trace Parkway.  I only went 70 miles but for anyone thinking of drives in this area it goes 440 down to Natchez and the New Orleans.

It is an old Indian Trail (trace) and Feds have built this golf cart like Parkway with grass growing right up to asphalt and you travel along spectacular ridges.

I had to stop twice for deer but no one else around and lots of heritage markers including death/burial site of Lewis in 1809 for Lewis and Clark expedition fame of 1804/5.

Very relaxing.  I went back another way.
