Meh ... unimpressive. It's the exact same thing as the sedan minus 2 doors and a small spoiler. The Civic coupe tries to look a little different. I would be much more interested in a 5-door hatch. I know I know ... they already have the Accent and the Veloster. Can a (un)sporty coupe significantly boost the sales of an already popular sedan?
The civic coupe and sedan look quite different to me
http://www.leftlanenews.com/photos/hyundai-elantra-coupe-picture-1.html-the OP link doesn't open for me.I think it looks good, better than the sedan, with properly sized doors and 5 spoke rims. I wouldn't worry about it being visually differentiated from the sedan, but rather what changes will be done to steering and suspension. And more importantly, if there is going to be a larger or turbo engine.
2 door coupe still beats the 4 door "daddy" in terms of usable interior volume. You had to see what size a TV box I once loaded into a Grand AM through the passenger door. The front seat could be folded almost flat to the back seat, even BestBuy folks couldn't believe it. I'd never be able to do it with the Sonata. Besides, coupes' doors are more friendly for checking blind spots. I'll buy a coupe every time over the same car with 4 doors provided the price is the same.
Agreed. I think we will see the turbo engine. It would not make sense in terms of economies of scale for Hyundai to develop that motor and only use it in the Veloster Turbo. It makes sense in this application for sure. Frankly, I hope they put it in a sport version of the sedan as well and make it available with a 6-speed manual and more buttoned-down suspension.Jaeger

No surprise here, styling on the latest itteration of Elantra has always screamed coupe. That said, how many inexpensive 2 door beasts does Hyundai need? Veloster and Genesis already on the streets, and now the Elantra sandwiched in the middle?
A no brainer since the Elantra sedan has more of a 4 door coupe profile anyway.
