2011 Buick Regal CXL - good deals i think
« on: January 07, 2012, 08:13:06 am »
I was wondering if anyone here either owns or has an opinion on the 2011 Buick Regal CXL, non-turbo model.  They have some really good deals on a couple of demos here, I test drove one and it does seem a bit low on power but drives really nice and feels really solid.  They are offering 0% lease and a total of $7,225 in rebates and $1,000 towards winter tires.

Any input greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

A bit low on power is likely a fair observation - though from the standpoint of someone who likes a good bit of power in a family sedan, it may seem a significant understatement.  It certainly does feel nice and solid.  There have been - ahem - extensive discussions of this car on the forum, and it has been the subject of a couple reviews / blogs.  Make the search function your friend.

If you liked it on your test drive and can get over the power deficit, go for it.  You are not going to find a better new car for the price it stands at now thanks to rebates and 0% leasing rates.

What does the lease rate work out too?  Like $350 a month?

True.  That is a huuuuuge combined rebate on the entry level model.  To the OP - take a seriously long test drive - try to replicate the conditions in which you would use the car.  Try a highway passing manouver.  I found that to be..... informative.  Make sure you are satisfied with the power.  In my experience, the thing you don't like about a car when new, you will like even less as time goes by.  If it's a minor thing (to you), no biggie (never did like the orange instrument ligting in my old Altima, for example).

The lease ends up at $411 on the road but only because the residual is very low at 9,391.  Still a very good deal though it seems.

I haven't heard that much about it, but from what I have, it's definitely a good car. I've heard it's very well-built, nicely appointed, and drives solidly, but lacks driving excitement and maybe a bit of power. The car is already a good deal overall, so with the additional rebates you would be getting it would be even better. If you are not really into driving excitement and can get over the lack of power, it is a good choice. Remember, it wasn't that long ago when top-line V6 engines in family cars had 180-190 horsepower. When my son was looking for mid-size sedans last Spring for his family (4 people) to use as a secondary vehicle, he looked at the Regal and was impressed. It was his second choice and he probably would have purchased it, but it lost out to the Ford Fusion in rear seat space. Cumulatively though, I would definitely approve your decision. Remember, there's always the turbo models if you want more power!

Yeah if I was to lease a 2012 turbo it would be over $200 more a month than the 2011 cxl, it would be nice but not that nice!

These are really nice cars. The Turbo model is much preferred but if you are happy driving the non-turbo model you won't be disappointed.
