So what kind of fuel economy you getting?

I recently traded my 5.4 F150 for the Ecoboost F150.  Highway mileage has been great (9-10 l/100 km) but it dips in the city (as bad as 15 l/100km).

I guess there are so many variables that impact fuel economy with trucks.  Even something like E rated tires can make a noticeable difference.

So far my F150 has hauled, well, nothing other than some Christmas gifts.  That combined with a very conservative driving style has probably helped the fuel economy.

I stood on it yesterday and can say that the Ecoboost has some decent power.

I've been looking into the Ecoboost myself.  I do a lot of commuting to work, which is mostly highway, so I think it would be a great option.  However, with kids, it seems like I am in town a lot too, so I want the best mileage I can get without having to lose my truck.  I couldn't survive without it!
My wife and I are looking at Indianapolis Used Cars.  What do you look at most in a used car?

If you have kids, then the Ford is almost certainly the only way to go.  If you like having interior room that is.  The EB is sweet on power, but I hear the 5.0 is pretty nice too.  Screw the mileage, no truck is great...1 or 2 mpg either way aint gonna kill ya.  GM's are too small, not sure about the Dodge, but doubt it's much better inside than a Chevy...is there anything else? Uhm...I guess a couple foreign makes, but does anyone who really needs a truck look at those?

I recently drove all the 1/2 ton crewcabs. Toyota, beautiful driving truck.....cant stand to look at it. Ram, hemi, wow....thats freaking a quick truck but I couldnt stand the interior, so cheap, flimsy and lots of squeaks. Nissan, not a bad truck, but didnt do anything for me. GM, the 6.2 V8 was an awesome engine, I liked the trucks interior and the way it looked......fuel mileage close to 20L/100Kms.....that hurt me. Drove the Ecoboost, wicked engine, nice shifting transmission and the interior wasnt bad on the FX4 I drove.....the exterior though I still cant fall in even like with......sigh, too bad, I actually liked the Ford.

Brother has a Tundra Crew Max Limited and he can't wait to get rid of it at the end of his lease. He's had many small and not so small problems - faulty ignition switch, shot wheel bearing, failed AC compressor. But what he hates the most is how it hammers when driving over expansion joints. When the back end encounters a bump the whole box vibrates. You see it shake in the side mirror. He loved the power when he first got it but that wore off pretty quickly. And yes, it uses a lot of fuel. He towed a car hauler a few thousand kms a couple of times and got 6-7 mpg. But he can live with that. He just ordered a Raptor with a 6.2L and I doubt that will be much better on gas. He claims the power is superior to his Tundra. But he loves the ride from the Raptor's long travel suspension.

I told him that I had it on good authority that the Tundra was going to overrun the light truck market. Especially when they come out with their diesel. It's been a couple years now and he's starting to believe my source isn't credible.

Wife's colleague's husband is service manager and Master Ford  Mechanic at local Ford store.  We eat and drink together every couple of months so I pick his brain on what used Ford's to keep and not keep, large and small issues, etc.  His opinion is if your using an F150 as a car, get the EB.  If you're towing or carrying a load, get the 5.0.

I got the EB for towing...thought, you know, that the massive amount of torque down low and all the way through the rev range would be better than something that peaked at 4500 rpm.  Guess we'll find out in the end if your Ford buddy is right, or me.  I've got 4 more summers of hauling the camper with this thing to find out.  That is of course unless gas shoots to $4+ US per gallon, or 10 bucks a liter here.  Then I might not be finding out too much.  We also use it mostly as a car, so I guess either way I made the right decision.

Honestly though, I never looked at a GM or Dodge, Nissan's not even on the radar, and Toyota, well...my bro in law has one and I drove it once, nice enough, but I still can't look at them.  There's no Toy/San dealers anywhere nearby...though that would still not likely change my mind if there was.

Fobroader, you'll get used to the way the Ford looks, it's not ugly (I admit I'm kinda in love with the look of the Ram), and if space is what you seek, look no further.  ;D

What did I post that was ridiculous? My brother doesn't like his Tundra. Has he broken some kind of covenant?

Ok..let me help you understand why some members here might thinks it's odd.

1) You're a great FORD salesman
2) Who works at a very good dealership
3) Who could likely get his brother a great price and great service
4) And you're brother buys a Toyota instead

I thought it was very odd too, TBH.  And remember...it wasn't too long ago that you were scolding me about anecdotal evidence.   ;)

FWIW...there are 2 co-workers here that have had issues (some big, some not) on their Ford F-150s (non-EB).  Shrug.  Bound to be a few lemons from any marque.

Jeez...I just filled up yesterday at $3.49/US gallon...the end is near!  Then end is near!!  They're taking away their guns (love the emails from my American friends)...Vic Toews (never voting for that guy again!) is trying to steal my private thoughts without warrant......but most importantly, I smell cheap muscle cars on the horizon!  ;D
