My first car!!!
« on: January 01, 2012, 06:22:21 pm »
I just registered with the forum because I am so excited that I bought my first car yesterday! I'm a bit of a late bloomer (25 and only just got my license a month ago) but I'm so proud of it. It's so cute and me!
I got a 2001 Toyota Echo with 125,000 km's on it, and the body, interior and mechanic's are all in great shape. Anyways, here she is!

Where?  ???

I think you need 10 posts before you can attach photos.   You'll have to talk to us more before we can see it.

Ya, sorry guys. I didn't realize about the minimum 10 rule until it posted and it wouldn't let me attach the photo either. Anyways, thanks for all the comments. I really hope it does run forever. I was going to go with a Honda Civic because of their reliability, but after looking into Toyota's more, and then finding this little beauty I had to get it. I wish I knew more about cars so I could create more posts and finally get the picture up! lol

Good thing because you're Echo has a timing chain where the Civic had a rubber belt that, along with associated parts, needs to be changed.

You never mentioned auto or manual shift.  If auto, then the 2005 and down Civic risky.

Yep an Echo is as about as good as they get for a first car. Cheap to pretty much everything on them and bulletproof reliable.

Congrats  :winner:

Nice choice. A friend of mine owned two of them was reluctant to give them up even with a growing family. They cost him nearly nothing to run.

Congrats on joining the driving crowd and another congrats on a great choice of first car!! A guy at work had an Echo, ran the thing into the ground, he loved it cause it was so cheap to run. A set of tires costs a little more than 1 tire on my truck.

Yay! You guys are making me feel so good about the choice of car I bought. I heard good things about the reliabilities of Toyota's but knew that Echo's were more the entry class of the line, so I was a little worried it might not be as 'durable' as other Toyota vehicles. But after all of your guys kudo's it sounds like I will have this little cutie for some time, which makes me feel even happier if that's even possible. I'm trying to get up there in posts so I can post a picture too. lol

I must say, this is such a warm and welcoming community so far!!

Yep.  Discuss either the Buick Regal or Hyundai cars.   Use both sides of the paper.
