Hope this isn't the start of something....
« on: December 23, 2011, 02:39:54 pm »
As I posted earlier my ML is the subject of a recall. At the same time I noticed today that the onetouch up feature on the driver's window isn't working and is acting kind of weird. If you hold the switch the window goes up but then goes back down halfway and stops after it hits the top.

I also noticed today that the front parking sensor alarm is going off ramdomly while driving. It was snowing a bit so maybe that was it.

I hope this isn't the start of electrical gremlins!
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

You may be able to reset the auto up feature for the window. The process should be in your owner's manual.

First the Cadillac, now the Mercedes. The one common denominator is the driver. You've got the bad touch! ;D

Those "anti pinch" windows can get confused.

The Rover does the same thing with the parking sensors. Snow/ road grime sometimes causes it to freak out.

I ran into the dealer at a drinks at 5 sort of party tonight. The window problem was that they were out of sync....drivers window was frozen the other day . Fairly simple process to reset and all appears fine now.

I think the parking sensors were because of the snow/ice. Unfortunately, although you can turn them off they default to "on" everytime you restart the car. It would be nice to be able to turn them off for the winter and only turn them on if you wanted them.

I agree that it would be really useful to be able to turn off some of the gadgets for the winter.   But I suspect that a lot of people who drive from heated condo garage to heated  work building garage probably don't care and the makers of luxury cars are not going to make changes for real people... those who might encounter bad weather once in a while.   On my car I'd like the wipers to park up on the screen all winter not down below the hood lip...I'd like it if VW had not "decontented" the GTI by removing the headlight washers  and so on.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Is there a tool for Mercedes like the VW VAG-COM tool to reprogram features?

Thought I'd bump this thread up. Was driving the ML today and got an amber light and messages that said "ESP (MB-speak for stability control)  Inoperative" and "runflat sensor not operating". Sounds like it could be a bad wheel speed sensor.....I should know....I replaced something like seven of them the last 18 months I had the SRX   ::)

I had an appointment on Tuesday for winter tire/wheel changover already so we'll see. Like the title says...I really hope this isn't the start of something. :-\

..........and now the warning lights are out and the messages gone. I hope this isn't going to be one of those vehicles that stop acting up as soon as you make a service appointment. ::)

SDS = Star Diagnostics System.  Priced for dealerships, not for end-users.

VAG-Com?  Highly unfortunate name.

BTW, all those warning lights on a Mercedes dash change the km your warranty is up.  Then they all read "$" in bright red.
No place I'd rather be...
