This thread reminds me of something I read that left me shaking my head.
It was in an issue of 'Canadian Geographic', I was reading it at the Orthodontist while waiting for my daughter, it was from earlier this summer, maybe. I always considered CG a relatively good magazine, with good editing.
The article was about someone out in Alberta or Sask who was big into rare earth mining, I can't remember which mineral, but he talks about growing up in Alberta, watching the train loads of ore going west to be exported to China, and the train loads of Chinese built cars coming back east.
I wasn't aware that 'train loads' of Chinese built cars were coming into Canada even now, much less in the 1980s or 90s. I was surprised that the editors of CG would let something like that get into print.
