Krown a 2011 Rav4?
« on: December 20, 2011, 10:26:26 am »
Looking for some advice on Krown'ing a 2011 Rav4... I've heard so many mixed opinions... I'm in Halifax, the roads are heavily salted.  My previous car, a 10 year old Protege, only had a small amount of rust around the wheel wells. Of course other cars on the road are not so lucky.

Thoughts? Anything specific about Toyota's regarding rust checking that I should know?

Thanks

I am not convinced of the value of extra rustproofing anymore.

Both of our current cars are at almost 250,000 km's and over 8 years old, we do nothing special in terms of care.

The Civic has surface rust on nuts, bolts & brackets only, nothing on the body.

The Volvo is devoid of rust completely.

I believe car manufacturers have made great strides in terms of the metals and protection provided from just the factory treatments, but I can't discount the value of extra protection. Krown and Fluid Film tend to be the prefered chemicals by other posters.
Richard - that's my opinion and I stand by it.

Some manufacturers have made great strides. Others have not.  *cough* Mazda *cough*

No issues official or otherwise.  Our Toyota and Nissan stores have stopped applying the dealer applied crap (WCB health and safety issues) and now sell Krown treatments thru the dealership.  Many of the local dealers are doing the same thing (Hyundai and Subaru across the street for sure).

Yep when I was running a "show" it was always farmed out to a reputable 3rd party company. Not that it worked any better, one of my parent's neighbours bought a '95 Civic brand new off me that they still have, rotted out rear quarters and all  :o
