I'm not saying here is no possibility that the Venza has no inherent weakness that is being exploited. However, there are numerous other possibilities as to why it is on the list. As for bias, your total anti-Toyota at all turns is well known, so how is it possible that you'd contribute something constructive?  Every post in a Toyota topic assumes that there is a massive design flaw. The majority of car thefts, regardless of make or model, are because an owner made their vehicle more available. Yes, some are easier to steal, or have a known weakness (Mazda and Honda made tons of cars that you could have taught your dog to steal) but many thefts are based on opportunity. People shouldn't feel that their car won't be stolen just because it's near the bottom of the stolen list. There's lots of easy to steal cars that are infrequently stolen

We have anti-Toyota, anti-GM, anti-Nissan, anti-whatever.  Interestingly here the minute some manufacturer has a success, it's about interest rates or lack thereof, money on the hood, a lifetime to pay back, residual and the merits of the product gets buried at the bottom of the thread.  Not a boring place for sure, a good time can be had ;)

Rangers
83-92 no
93-95 no
97-00 some
01-06 some
07-up yes

We worked on 1990's vintage Rangers that used a chipped key.

Thanks for the info.  I knew that we'd had Rangers in the 90's with chips.  Seems odd to me that the technology trickled up in this case, with the most expensive F350's receiving a valuable anti-theft device last.

I wondered if anyone had caught that...
