Blue tooth compatibility in BMW 328
« on: December 13, 2011, 09:11:11 am »
I have a 2011 328 with Blue tooth. The dealer paired my phone for me. I never had blue tooth before and am a novice at this stuff.

I need to replace my old phone. I just want to get a simple phone as all I do is call people and maybe send 30 text messages a year. That is all I do!!! I use a phone as a phone. I was going to get a Nokia C1 from FIDO.

I now found out that there is a chance that phone may not be compatible with the blue tooth in the BMW. I read somewhere that BMW does not plan to offer software upgrades to develop future compatibility with newer phones.

Should I be worried about this? Are the chances good that this new phone will work out just fine.
Living my BMW dream.

Park outside the phone store and check the pairing before you take the phone.

One would hope the car specification would state which Bluetooth version is supported ( The current version is 4 since July 2010) and the phone store the same for the phone.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

This should help. There are phones much older than the Nokia C1 listed there and they work. Also, the C1 does not show up under the issues list.
