Stock rims for my car currently in storage



csl/comp pack style currently on my car.


obviously, if i want to keep using my csl style rim, i would have to dismount the winters currently on them, and mount the summers that are already on the stock 18"s..  and that's quite costly.

however, i love the look of the csl style rim..  it looks as though it fills out the wheel well better (even though they are exactly the same size)

no, i won't pick up 19"s even though they look SOOOO GOOD.  18"s ride punishingly enough. (and tires are way more expensive on 19")

stock rims are a pain to clean ,
so really hard to get your fingers in there to clean

My suggestion's not up there, so will answer here:

The stock rims look fine, but I have such a weakness for the competition style wheels.  In fact, I had no idea those were knock-offs.

But there's an expense to changing tires on rims, plus you want to look great in the winter, right?  If anything, having great-looking rims for winter elevates my mood when it's dark and dreary in winter.   

So look for competition style wheels for your summer tires as well.  If you can't find any suitable ones or anything priced how you like it before it's time to change tires, then just mount the current set of stock wheels and tires you have now.....  and keep looking...

Looking is half the fun.     You want a great looking set for BOTH summer and winter.

Stock rims are....you know....stock.  It's what BMW thought would be best on your car and I'll bet they run perfectly smoothly and are well balanced.   It would be a shame to put those knock-offs on for the summer just to find out that they don't balance as well as the stock rims.

I quite like the look of the stock rims.  By the time spring rolls around (if you'll pardon the pun) you'll be ready for a change back to those mean looking stock rims.  Think of it this way:  you're not stuck with the same rims year 'round.

It appears that your stock rims shown in the first picture are painted black.  The second picture seems to show what those stock wkeels look like, but are polished.  The third picture shows your new winter wheels that are polished.  If that is correct then I would change over your tires and wheels now.  Painted alloy wheels are better for the winter where salt is involved.  Both wheels look very nice, but the painted finish will stand up to winter conditions better so your car will look better for longer.

My summer wheels are stock alloys with a chrome and polished aluminum finish; while my winter wheels are aftermarket alloys with painted finish.  Most people say they prefer the look of the aftermarket painted aluminum wheels.
