Caliber has hit the bricks and not preparing for the Dart

rumoured "8 speed automatic" . I'd like to see that in operation. Why not a 10 speed ?  ???

The Charger is getting one too.

Lots of cats have 8 speeds now.  BMW uses then in almost all their cars they work really well.

I did not know cats had that many speeds,
I thought they were 3 speed, sleeping, walking and running

Got to love auto correct  ;D

Pics and video here, I think it looks great. Perhaps the night lighting on the rear is too bright, that's the only thing I don't like.

I like it.  There's no mistaking a current Charger for anything else on the road.

I'm fairly impressed. I don't think I'd ever consider buying one... but this is a gigantic improvement over the Calibre and it looks like it may even be competitive in the compact segment. They certainly have the engine options and interior appointments.

This is looking like a quantum leap forward for dodge.   fiat or alfa must have brought  over some people to keep the dodge designers from going over board and mangling the first chrysler dodge fiat effort.

According to carscoop Dart comes with a 9 speed slush box. seems a little excessive. Now if is like the tradition Alfa. You might spend quiet bit of time in lay-bys admiring the view....

+1. It's like the very much improved second generation Neon has finally been released, nearly two decades after the original one. lol.

Dodge Dart to use transmission from Hyundai
http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/19/dodge-dart-to-use-transmission-from-hyundai/

"Hyundai CEO John Krafcik has confirmed that the Korean automaker will supply Chrysler with transmissions for its new Dodge Dart, according to Car and Driver. While the two automakers may seem like odd dance partners, the tie-up makes plenty of sense. Both companies use engines born out of the now-defunct Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance with Mitsubishi. As a result, 2.0- and 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines found in the Dart share more than a few strands of DNA with the same displacement engines found under the hood of vehicles like the Hyundai Sonata. Needless to say, it shouldn't take too much effort to get the Hyundai gearbox and Chrysler engines to play nice. ....

I thought the same thing... it looks like what the Neon might have looked like if they hadn't taken some time out and tried to sell the Caliber.

I like the styling... if it's got the driving dynamics to match, I wouldn't rule a Dart out were I looking for a compact sedan. But Dodge has a big hill to climb if they want to be considered as good as Honda and Toyota, or even Hyundai and Ford.
