New (and smart) Hyundai ad
« on: December 04, 2011, 09:38:17 am »
I just saw a Hyundai ad on NBC that I thought was pretty smart given today's economy in the US. It was basicly shots of American workers on the line with them talking about Hyundai quality and stressing "not one American manufacturing layoff ever...not one...not ever" and then ending with a voiceover saying "Hyundai, the all American car company"
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

It's great to hear about how well Hyundai's workers are being taken care of in America. But I wonder about South Korea... when it comes to Hyundais and their AMAZING pricing, I have to wonder if a few aren't being paid enough. I'll have to look into this, but otherwise GO HYUNDAI GO!

South Korean industry enjoys a healthy advantage due to currency manipulation much like China. How much does that affect the price of Hyundai vehicles sold in North America?

Just to be clear... I didn't mean this in a "Gee, isn't Hyundai wonderful " sort of way but rather commenting that I thought this type of ad was a smart move on their part.

how old are their US plants
I wonder how many people in the US know about their failed Canadian plant?

Wrong place at the wrong time.

All CAW personel absorbed into the union fold at other sites.

Plant now used to produce wind turbines and sub assemblies for Goodyear.
Richard - that's my opinion and I stand by it.

That tagline is an all-American exaggeration. Do they expect people to believe they are not Korean?

Oh! Yeah, it was a great idea for a commercial, especially considering the audience! I think any country would be happy to hear that an outside company was giving it jobs and helping its economy. And as for drawing in customers, with this very believable all-american slogan I feel that countering with the usual patriot flag waving from the big three will be much less effective. Views will think things like, "That's all well and good, but Hyundai is also fairly good for our economy, and well... they do make some really nice cars, and their pricing beats the sh*t out of yours soooo....."

Sub assemblies for Goodyear??
What are these?
Within Goodyear I've never heard this place referenced.
