Hawk HPS - High Performance Street vs PC - Performance Ceramic
« on: November 28, 2011, 12:28:20 pm »
So I need new rear break for my 08 WRX and I leaning towards a set of Hawk pads.
My fronts are not even half worn out yet but the rears are significantly smaller then the fronts.
As long as I like whatever I choose I will likely put the same on the front when the time comes.

Does anyone have any opinion on either of these pads. From what I have read the HPS have better grip then the ceramics but the ceramics give off less dust.
My other concern with ceramics is that apparently tend to not work as well when cold and as we all know it does tend to get cold around these parts.
From what I have read Hawk pads seem to be highly regarded as the best bang for your buck, is this the case?

I run the HPS on my P5 and will put them on the 5 when it's due.

I got 80,000 km out of them.  Minimal dust, no noise and good stopping power.   No complaints, really.   Don't expect them to turn your car into a 6 piston BREMBO stopping machine though.  Maybe a slight improvement over stock.

I ran them on the Supra, IS300 and now my Audi.  A smidge more dust than other performance pads and increased performance.

This is a very good performance pad for the money.  I will keep using them until I find something better.
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Running HPS in the Subaru right now, and they're about as good as you can get without getting insanely expensive.  OE Subaru pads suck-donkey-balls, so don't bother overspending on that garbage.
No place I'd rather be...

I have the Hawk Performance Ceramics on the TSX. You're right about them not working well when cold, but its only noticeable for the first few stops (ie. backing out of the driveway). Other than that, they work great.
