That dashboard looks odd on the passenger side.

I think it looks like what the Celica would have evolved into should it had been continued. I do not understand why Toyota abandoned their own excellent DOHC 4-cylinder engines in favor of a Subaru boxer design. That is like walking away from filet mignon in favor of ground beef.

From the land of the dead comes this!!?  The people responsible for bringing this car to market deserve a medal or lots o cash.  light weight, sharp design, manual transmission.  Let's hope the spirit of this car moves into other cars in their lineup.   (harsh comments re: the boxer engine. Clearly it is heavily modified and They are using it because of its low centre of gravity)

The boxer will be allow a very low cg, which will aid handling.

Looks great.  Love to see that 197hp aspro 2.0L engine in the new Impreza.

How about a $27K Impreza Sport with that engine?  What about an AWD Toyota version?  Lots of cool possibilities with that chassis/engine and nice looking sheetmetal...
No place I'd rather be...

Love the looks of it from every angle, even the interior is not common to the current Toyotas, in a good way. Great classic 3 spoke st. wheel, but that chunk of "fiberglass" above the glovebox I'd rather have in brushed aluminum, although it's no big deal.
Coupled with a stick shift the car's got to be already a thrill to drive and in auto I'd like me a turbo version.
This will boost Scion brand by quite a bit in NA.
I'd really like to get one, but have already signed up for some other Toyota  ;D

I bet that thing's a lot of fun to drive. Can't say I'm a fan of those first-gen Tiburon fender humps.

100% of the engineering was done by Subaru. This is a Subaru with a Toyota/Scion badge. Personally, I like the flat four. I've owned both a peaky, high revving Toyota and a torquey flat four Subaru. Both engines have their merits. This 2.0 is small enough that it should rev fairly high.

The big question is pricing. Some estimates say it will base for $28k USD but I'm betting it will be a bit less than that. Hopefully they can keep it to $30k in Canada.

They look identical. So what would be the difference be between the two?

the badge on the front for now.  Subaru supposedly has full control over the development of the line going forward and will slowly evolve each differently.

So far it sounds like the first Toyota/Subaru I'd want to own (I've been waiting a long time for this).

This car was definitely made for the enthusiast.  Read a great interview with Chief Engineer here:

Doubt it.  Isn't it a RWD platform?  Can it be made into AWD?  Not so sure..because of how low the frame lets the engine sit in the front.
