what is an anti-starter?
« on: November 25, 2011, 04:46:19 pm »
hey im having trouble starting my car. the only thing i could say is that when it doesn't start, i could start a timer. and the moment it has been EXACTLY 10 minutes the car will once again start.. the only thing i could think of is that it may be an anti-starter.. but i don't know what that is. i own a 2005 pontiac pursuit. if anybody could please help me it would releive A LOT of frustration. lol.

Piston return springs are weak. Blinker fluid could be low, kicking in the anti-start because it is a safety feature and it is not working.

Yeah, low blinker fluid is a distinct possibility. Could be the pinion pivots need re-alignment as well, or perhaps the trunnion gaps are too wide. You just never know with today's high-tech cars....

Sounds to me like someone whose first language is probably not English is having problems with his vehicle's anti-theft system, which could plausibly include a starter lock-out.

I'd offer assistance if I knew anything about Pontiac Pursuits, but since I don't, I'll just shut up.

Their is a TSB on this issue, it is quite common, it will need an ignition switch & lock, it will cost little better than $400 when everything is said and done.
