but the top is made to last 25,000km and bottom 5,000 km
over 5,000 km there will be no difference

Who says? The filter manufacturer doesn't.

Furthermore, who changes their synthetic oil at 5000 kms? If they do, what a waste.

What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

BMW oil changes are at 25,000 km so you would think they  would put a better filter in

you get what , you pay for usually

I know for my Pilot, Honda has two part numbers for oil filters.  One made by Honeywell, the other by Nippon(?).

Have you tried to buy the Japanese OEM filter? I would bet you can't.

The aftermarket oil filters may be good enough for the life that we expect from an engine, but who says an engine should start consuming oil at 300K or 400K...and all do to some degree. Maybe filter quality does make a difference. If so, I'd be going with a Canton-Mecca.

Not on a BMW motorcycle which is what that oil filter is for. They also do not specify a synthetic, which is why the oil change interval is not 25K kms.

That FRAM oil filter with the cardboard ends looks like someone glued them on in their basement. You do get what you pay for. Unfortunately, FRAM is really good with their advertizing in making consumers think they are buying quality. No thanks!

Ah, good to know.  So as long as I'm using Exxon-Mobil products, I can say I'm using Toyota fluid... ;D

"Pre-warranty expiration inspection"??? Well first of all, they don't exist and you'll have to pay for it. Secondly, unless you have a specific issue with your Toyota, I highly doubt they will find anything.

Regardless, Toyota powertrains are as about as bulletproof as they come. Keep the maintenance up on it and the body will fall off your car long before the powertrain will give you grief.
Richard - that's my opinion and I stand by it.
