Deer season ended today and finally nailed one! Damage Update
« on: November 14, 2011, 01:20:09 am »
Not a huge hunter, but like the process.   I've had a severe over population of deer at my cottage for the past 15 years and they reek havoc on the surrounding vegetation.  So every November I take a few days on and off trying to bag one of the pests.  So I hook up with a guy that lives nearby my cottage full time who is hard core and we take off on our ATVs.  Past two years nothing.  He blames me.  :rofl2:   Although, any day in the winter (out of legal season) I can bag as many as I want, any day I want, as they are wandering all over in plain view.  ::)

So since the wife's Camry has a hitch and I didn't want to leave the ATV at the cottage on the last day I borrowed it and on the way back last night I finally nailed a good sized male.

I waited for the OPP to attend and then I jumped in his Tahoe and we drove about 1km back down the road and found the b*gger in the ditch.  Hopefully some resident animals get a good feast courtesy the Intact Insurance Company.  :D

Funny, I made the decision to take the Digby-Saint John Ferry home from NS last night rather than drive around the bay after dark precisely for this reason.

Just be glad it was only a deer. With a moose you might not be here. :-\

You have my sympathy. After hitting three in one year I have not come close since. Did pass a group of road killed buffalo on Saturday and shivered a bit.
