Where do I get one of those? I'd also like to get windows tinted -can Hyundai do that, or is going somewhere else a better idea?

Look up Tint shops in the phone book for your area. Chances are, they offer the 3M clear bra as well. Dealers usually outsource the tint jobs, and charge more for it.

Congrats on your new purchase. I don't think you will regret your purchase, I have friends who own Hyundai's and they love em.

I first thought of here: http://www.monroeautoglass.com/Tinting.page

I had the G5's windshield replaced here and was happy with service/work.

I see the showroom 2012 ET...... and here begins the trouble.    You got that right.  :)

Perhaps I rushed into this.....   :rofl2:

(someone tell me I at least did ok'ish?).     :nono:

Did you even drive this vehicle  ???  Did you do that 160km commute with that big box on the top on in a 50 kph wind  ???

The Civic is doing a high km commute (160km/day) and of course over on km's big time in the lease (though, 2 years to go to get km's down).       the Civic is right around/just over $400 per month in gas

 :bang:

So what exactly do you have   An old tech Hyundai that will very soon be replaced and a commitment for 27K that gets mediocre mileage.

As we say in the business .... "you got SLAMMED".

Maybe, but at the time of purchase you can sometimes negotiate a pretty good deal on those extras.  I got prices on tint +3M from the dealer that I doubt could be matched at an independent shop.  And if anything goes wrong with either one, I go back to the dealer and have them fix it and don't have to worry that the shop that did the work is now a Tim Horton's.

Steve - did you laugh at all the people that bought "old tech" Civics in the last model year before the new ones came out?  How about those that bought Elements before Honda decided to mercifully euthanize it?

Pity.  Not laughter.  Those 2001 -2005 Civics were crap in contrast to the 2006 +.  Even a bigger leap that the Sonata upgrade which as you know was gigantic.  As for the Element .... well that is a styling preference because the unit itself is solid.

have fun with the dog......and explain the purchase.....

Ya, please explain this purchase.  ???

OP looking a used units on the yard, enters showroom and sees a shiny black one with giant gas sucking sail on top.  Comes out owing 27K on a unit that in 6 months will be worth maybe 18K.  Expects to start family at any time.  Upside down on all vehicles.  ::)

It was a foolish purchase considering the unit is traveling 160 km per day.  The OP asked.  It's my opinion because it happens in every showroom, every weekend across the country.   Others might benefit from this story;  don't buy off the floor and never buy that same day unless you have purposely attended to buy that exact vehicle.  The vehicle will still be there the following day and the day after that and the day after that.
  :)

Yes, your opinion is your opinion....

What idiot drives with the cargo box on the roof on a daily basis? Please don't chirp me after you assumed that, it will be a great perk when we drive halfway across the country for a month each summer or to the cottage every other weekend, but will spend most of its time stored in our garage, it's a great freebie that will have great value the few times we need it.

As I said in the post on page 1 and then commented on by someone else, going used probably not the smartest/best fit for me, but hey I looked for half a moment at the cost versus going new.... I was going to end up with a new car. I had ruled GM, Toyota out earlier in the day for this purchase for cost/best fit reasoning and realistically aside from the cars I was considering fuel econ wasn't going to be the greatest thing about the car unless it was the Prius. Worst case this car replaces the Civic for 2 years and then we step up to a better fuel enonomic car when the Civic is gone or the long commute will potentially no longer exist. There is nothing in this post from me about really caring about the styling of the vehicle or how well it gets from 0-60 or whatever. Is it practical for our lifestyle, the way we drive, will it fit the needs of what we expect from a vehicle? Yes.

I appreciate everyone's input, but a belittling opinion is enough to smear my value for this forum if I have to come on and read crap like above. I do appreciate those who offered help and perhaps said nothing versus saying what one did to ruin it for me. I came with an open mind, maybe didn't make the best decision according to one and now I'm made to feel stupid? I'm not losing any sleep at night, the car will do the job for us and fit our lifestyle just fine, and if we keep paying what we're paying now on gas with what we currently have, then we still win because we have better space to utilize in the car for us.

I had my Golf's 3M stone guard done there. Was very expensive so not a place I'd recommend to everyone, but was impeccibly done and I was thrilled. When I hit the deer the collision center asked who applied it because they'd never seen one so well done and their own people can't do it that well. And indeed, they didn't when I got my car back.

Mind asking if you bought at Ontario Hyundai in Whitby, Sisley in Ajax, or? Ontario always treated me very well for both sales and service in the past.

Congrats on the Elantra Touring! My parents continue to like theirs, and it should provide you with far more space and versatility than a compact sedan.

Very good rebuttle. You did what you did, because it was right for you. I haven't been around this forum very long, but I find it very helpful and there alot of great people here. Sometimes they don't agree with my opinons on my choice of vehicle , but I don't let it bother me. My choice or opinion is not any less valid then theirs and neither is yours, so welcome aboard.

It wasn't a freebie.  You paid for it.  You didn't NEED any of those "accessories".  You bought on payments, not on cost.   :nono:

At the beginning your concern was cost of ownership/efficiency due to this 160 km commute.  You rushed and bought on emotion.  Essentially, you are upside down on this vehicle until the 5th year.   It's not a good place to be considering you have 2 years of payments on another unit with no equity.

OK, so you can't take criticism.  Not a bother.  :)

Maybe next time don't ask. (someone tell me I at least did ok'ish?).
