Sly should also never drive.  I have a family member who suffers from non-verbal learning disorder, the same problem that affects Sly.  It is no joke and can render the simplest of split second decisions we make every day a tortuous effort for those people.  Driving should be off limits to those so affected until they can prove they can handle the complexities of the task.

I had thought he made up that disorder, I was surprised to find it was a real one.

Well that wasn't quite the outcome I was expecting...

I'm glad it wasn't Aaron.  Even with his trouble with some of the challenges he seemed to do ok on the road (with the exception of the stop sign!).  He seems to have overcome a personal hurdle by doing the drive on the highway.  Hope he continues to get better!

Sly and Shirley seem to be the exact opposite of each other.  Sly can't even reverse in a straight line, but he did fine on the road.  I can understand wanting a gps in a strange city to call out upcoming street names.  Shirley got better at the challenges, but her road test was a disaster.  She's a frikkin' danger on the road!

She may have learned some new skills behind the wheel, but she still showed a total lack of understanding of some basic rules of the road.  She could do with some classroom time of a driver's ed course.  I guess an old lady from Cape Breton sitting in a classroom doesn't make for good tv...

Until next year!!!

 :iagree:

You got that right.

I had thought that Sly was heading for the title spot for sure as he has shown himself to be totally clueless when behind the wheel.  Aaron, on the other hand, is quite intelligent; he is simply betrayed by some body and brain damage (reaction times, fine motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination).  Again, I thought those things would have kept him off the road but obviously not.

Now Shirley was a complete surprise.  It is as if all her newly learned skills just could not translate to the real world.  All the problems that brought her to rehab just came back, it seems.  Perhaps with some practice she could see how to apply those skills but until then ... ::) ::)

As Gomer Pyle used to say:  "Surprise, surprise surprise!"   :o :o :o

I think that going out on the roads in a '66 Mustang with no seat belts or airbags with those drivers shows that Younghusband has a death wish.  Such an unfamiliar feeling car to most people as well.   A regular Camry would have been better boring maybe for the viewers but at least it would have brakes and steering and safety gear.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I was kind of surprised by the choice of car for the road test as well.  That was a beautiful Mustang, the owner sure is brave!  I think in past years they've used a Sebring convertible.  They seem to like the extra humiliation of being right out in the open in a car plastered with cameras and Canada's Worst Driver logos.

I cringe whenever they use any vehicle that starts the challenge with straight bumpers and panels.  Ugh.

I believe a Ford Ranger was used a few seasons back for the road challenge.

Yep, like many I was a little surprised at what I saw. I figured for sure that Aaron would have been the worst and although I wish him well, I still don't think he should be driving.

Those other two... one who needs a GPS to make it to the corner store and the other who drove through it, wholly crap man. I'll have my eyes peeled for the next time I am in Cape Breton, that woman should NOT have a license.
Richard - that's my opinion and I stand by it.
