Thanks for your advice richink.

I share your opinion.  The body shop tells me unofficially that the bill is just over $20K, so I am almost sure that it is a writeoff.  I am not interested in driving some kind of frankenstein car.  I love my M but I got 175,000 km on it and was going to move it out this fall or next year at the latest anyway.

I have my eye on a 2011 G37S and hope to make a move in a day or so.  Also drive a Sonata 2.0T and was surprised at the value given.

I want them to give me fair market value plus HST as I will have to pay tax on the entire amount of the new car.

Got a good settlement from RBC ($26,800) and bought an 2012 Acura TL with the tech package on Friday.

The new front end is much better looking than the 2011, but still polarizing.   The deal out there on Acura for cash deals are pretty good right now.

I get it on Tuesday.

I wanted Nav but the inventory of Nav cars was limited and they wouldn't deal as much as I wanted.

Glad you good outcome and the TL is a great value.

People need to realize that the bodyshop fixes cars their opinion of if the car will be a write off or not if just that an opinion. They do not have access to the tools to make that decision nor the power to do so.

You are going to love the new TL.  More room than the G, almost as fast, smoother engine, better gas mileage, better quality, more technology and handling that is better (my opinion, of course).

The stereo in the Tech package recently won a test against the best from Austin Martin, Jaguar, and M-B.  The 15g hard drive is impressive.

Enjoy.
