Wagon or Hatch

left car is a wagon with that extra window and the right car is a hatch.  Okay?

My GTI is a Hatch but our Fit   is a wagon.   It is all to do with what happens aft of the rear doors ( in a 4/5 door)

Ive only seen a handful of the Crosstours around Edmonton and I honestly dont think I have seen  Acura ZDX thing on the road. Didnt think Honda would ever try to mimick the classy lines of the Aztek.....

I seem to recall a huge long thread a few years back on what differentiates a wagon from a hatch. The consensus seemed to be windows behind the rear door and slope of the rear roofline and window as the differentiating factors. A wagon has a vertical or near-vertical rear window and a straight roof - a hatch has a sloped roof and steeper rake on the rear window.

*shrug*

I'd never call my Fit a wagon, but by that logic, it would be. So really I have no idea... it's all marketing speak anyway, isn't it?

I'm a honda guy and big surprise I like the look of these two ... umm, from the rear. I especially like the ZDX's wider tail likes. It's from the front that these two look fugly. The bulging nose/hood and longish over-hangs kills the styling. Seems like everyone is piling on to say how ugly it is because everyone else says it's ugly.

You always hear how regular non-car enthusiasts hate hatchback/wagons cause they sell in so few numbers and it's the car enthusiasts who come to the defense of hatchback/wagons. They build them and all we hear from you guys/girls are how ugly it is. So I can come to only one of two conclusions. Car enthusiast don't actually like hatchbacks/wagons. Or you guys/girls aren't really car enthusiasts.  ::)

I've almost always had a hatchback or wagon. I don't like either of these. The styling compromises the interior space. Honda used to be all about "form follows function", these are diametrically opposed to that ideal.

I picture the guy in the Crosstour stepping out of his car, looking at the ZDX and thinking "Niiiiiiiiiice.".

I had a similar experience on the weekend.  We were grocery shopping with the girlfriends SX4 Sport sedan and when we came out a Juke SV was parked beside us.  I knew the SX4 would be longer, but I couldn't believe it was actually slightly taller (in looks at least)

SX4 sedan is acceptable. Adding Sport to the sentence is not. Let me correct that by adding what a friend calls his - "SX4 Slug Sedan". :rofl2:

lol, just differentiating between the two models.  The SX4 Sedan sits on 15" wheels and seems lower (doubt it is).  It is a real slug to get going, however, with the sport and it's 17" wheels, it will out-handle most vehicles in its class.

Still not a fan of either one of these.  The Honda isn't bad looking from the front.  The Acura is sssslllllooooolllllllllyyyyy growing on me.  Overall I prefer the more angular Acura to the more rounded Honda.

I've seen quite a few of them in the center of universe.  They aren't pretty vehicles to look at on the road.  The Honda may be more practical with the lower hatch for shorter people.  The Acura looks like it has a higher lift height to get stuff into the back.
