2013 Ford Fusion
« on: October 01, 2011, 07:18:52 pm »
Some spy photos coming out for the next gen Fusion. Not sure exactly what Ford plans to do regarding it's "one Ford" strategy and how much of the Mondeo and Fusion will be shared. One thing is for sure... it looks like the full next gen Ford styling is going to make an appearance here. I see some Mondeo, some Taurus and some of Ford's concepts showing up.

If Ford can keep the quality high like it has with the current generation and bring some EcoBoost goodness to this it could be a really solid contender. The current facelifted Fusion has been really spectacularly competitive despite it's average start.

I've been in Europe for the past 2 weeks, and those European Fords sure are attractive.

And the interiors are way cool...they offer way more colour combos than black/grey we get.

Here, we seem to be obsessed with resale value of the interior, and even the car itself...kinda crazy isn't it?
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

You see through cladding much better than I can.  I have no idea what it looks like.  But I sure hope they take more Focus than they do Taurus for their styling theme on this one.

It's an art :)

If you look closely at the grille you can see the trapezoidal shape that we've seen on the 2013 Taurus update. Such a grille may look better in this application than on the Taurus.

I do hope for that kind of mix as well. I *think* this will be branded Mondeo in Europe and Fusion in North America with few changes so I suspect it will try and appeal to both sensibilities which seem to be converging anyways.

Woohoo Canuck!  I did a river cruise (Switzerland (although really just docking), France, Germany, Luxembourg and Amsterdam).  Am sorting through my pictures to post up soon on the vacation thread you started.

You have to use your imagination a bit, but looking at shapes under the camo it seems as if it wil look much like an upsized focus design. That may not be too bad. Hopefully there will be interior colors other than black though. Ford seems notorious for limiting the color choice inside the car.

There's a lot of Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta on this projection which isn't bad anyway. This one is completely based on the kinetic language.

I like what I see so far, lets wait for the interior pics.

Tried to find a few projection pics I saw somewhere but had no success so far.

Hope the final model lives up to the expectation and really looks like this projection. The rear will definitely not look like the one in the projection as the photos on AB show.

Well we can likely thank Hyundai/Kia for letting the designers of mid-size sedans break the blah styling brought on by the Camcord....there is now evidence that styling people have an opinion on sells.

Hmm...this looks a lot like the Evos concept front and back.  Peter De Lorenzo (AutoExtremist) thought the Evos was 2013 Fusion in the front...but next gen Mustang in the back given the fastback styling.

Then again, the A7 is a fastback...either way, cool looking.

Don't know if Hyundai/Kia needs thanking on this. After all, the design language they call "fluidic sculpture" seems more like a kinetic design language with a bit more fluidic appearance.

Nice!  Looks like it could have a Jaguar emblem on the hood.

The car depicted looks very nice indeed, but I have high doubts it has any relationship with the reality coming from AutoExpress.

Too bad, if that's so.  Something like that would have had me in a Ford showroom for sure.
