VAG-COM? I have a couple of questions for you! :rofl2:

I have one, it is called VCDS now.   FWIW I have the Micro-can  connector.  Newer cars only.

Doh!!  Ok..but answer me this.  I have a downpipe that's on its last legs, and is setting off the "check engine" light.  With the VCDS can you change the threshold (with regards to downpipe efficiency) of when the check engine light comes on?  And when I do swap out the weak downpipe for a super high flow catted one, the check engine light will come on...just because.

So can you turn it off completely or alter thresholds of warning lights?

I have to say I have no idea.  You would have to see what the code is in both the cases.   If it is an OBDII code then for sure you can reset it or not...no other options. If it is a VW specific code  then maybe the threshold can be altered.   Codes to do with emissions like anything between the engine and the far side of the post-cat oxygen sensor are usually OBDII

To quote Ross-Tech "  Some things are just the way VW protocols work"

Note that my cable will work on your TT  ( the VCDS web site has a page saying what cars need which cables and the TT is new enough)

From what I know you can't alter parameters with the VAG-COM. You can definitely clear the codes though.

I know you can alter parameters.  Otherwise, there's no point in having a vag-com vs a regular scanner.  I can clear codes with my plain old scanner on my Audi.

You can change small stuff, like DRLs etc., but how far deep does it go into engine related parameters? I'm curious now..

I am pretty sure that you cannot change parameters that could alter emissions...you need a reflash for that,   if you could change engine parameters it would probably be illegal to sell it in the USA,
