so, after months and months..  ;) my mirror's fixed, and i got a NEW KEY as promised.  i have 2 key fobs and a "valet key", an entire set now.  so happy.

the mirror's working great.  headlight levelling works fine, fenders look great and...

steering still shakes a bit.  above 110 km/h.    BMW said that wheels were off 0.5 g ...  mended it.  but still shaking a bit at high speed....

but it's 99% as it was..  so it's tolerable.  i'm not sure if i will pursue that final 1%...  having to drop my car off to get it checked and stuff does not seem worth my effort.

and rubber floor mat i ordered from ebay got here last week, so my bimmer is all ready for some snow!!!! (of which i got at least 10 cm of couple days ago.  snow drive review shortly to follow)

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Great to hear aquadorhj!  I'm not sure the 1% is worth it....  Get them to check it the next time your car is in service

Snow pics FTW!  Looking forward to it.  ;D

That's great to hear. But isn't that final 1% what makes a vehicle such as the M3 stand out from the pack? I'm not sure I'd want a car that shakes above 110kph. Well, my old and busted Accent shook above 80kph, but that was part of its character. A M3 shouldn't have this character. That's too bad.

Snow pics FTW!  Looking forward to it.  ;D

Happy to oblige.

This was yesterday, after doing some sliding/drifting practice in empty parking lot the day before.

notice the snow between the spokes of the wheels.    there's some in the front wheels too.

i went for a short drive after taking the pic, and my entire car shook violently above 70 km/h.   the car is extremely sensitive to the balance of the wheels.

today is warmer, so i went for a drive again, with all the snow melted off the wheels, and it's fine.   :o

so, today i found out my wind shield washer fluid reservoir is leaking..  not a "drip drip" affair..   it's pouring out as i fill them.
i filled it for the first time since the accident.  (once BEFORE the accident and it didn't leak AT ALL.  I know, cuz i bought a brand new washer fluid at local gas station and filled it right at the spot... that's in september now... wow, time flies)

and guess what..   my washer fluid reservoir is hidden underneath the front headlight somewhere so i either have to take the bumper off or wheel well liner off.
i'm trying to find out which.

I was almost resigned to just living with the steering shake, but this is the last straw.  i'm gonna have my insurance FIX IT FOR GOOD!.

talked to the body shop, they talked to my insurance, and apparently, my insurance told them not to do anything until they send out someone to inspect it.
arrgh...

btw, merry christmas and happy holidays everybody.

so, to get steering wheel shake issue looked at again, i dropped it off to the dealership to get suspension checked and aligned..

they found that one of my rear spring has cracked need me to replace them before being able to align it..

~$900....

maybe i'll collate all the stories and put them all in one post someday, when everything is sorted out.   :-\ :surrend:

i'm resigned to the fact that i'm supposed to suffer all the automotive misery for wanting to drive good(?) cars.. don't worry, guys..  i'm still looking at the shiny side up.  i'll probably enjoy riding on new springs.. (doubtful, but what can i do, right? :) )

You need to join some clubs and find some M3 buddies and stay away from the dealership.  There are tons of great jobber and performance parts for those cars that aren't rip-offs from the dealer.
No place I'd rather be...

^X2

Replacing rear springs on an M3 takes about an hour.  A set of 4 springs should cost around $300.  Do the math, find a new wrench.

"Cracked" or broken  ???  Did you actually see it?

Definitely pause on this and look into aftermarket springs as suggested.
