So I dropped off my car again at the shop today to get a realignment and wheels balanced and the paint thing fixed and the broken auto leveling sensor reattached.

Of course, they haven't ordered it in advance even though I told them the exact thingy that was broken.
They took the door protection plastic molding off to repaint it.  Paint looks good like before.
Little scratches on the door itself and the chips have not been fixed yet.

As for realignment, I haven't seen the report yet.
Balancing. I haven't tested it yet.

I have to go back once the level sensor arm that they ordered comes in again.

On a separate note, I think the sales guy from bummer dealership is avoiding me.
He promised me a new key and mirror motor, but I haven't been able to get hold of him for the last 2 weeks.

Hmm. Maybe I should retract the giant kudos I gave him.

Quit F-ing around. He had a chance.  Time to talk to his manager.

If it wasn't made in writing the promise, pretty much SOL...

BMW keys are very expensive.  If they are out of stock in the USA, they come from Germany special order.  The key isn't happening.

Is it in writing?

Either way, the guy is screwing him around.  Whether a key is in stock or not...it doesn't take several weeks to let a customer know what's happening.

It's a 10 year old BMW off a Calgary used car lot.  Really, what are the expectations for after sale service  ???

Policy is not set by the staff especially in the used car business.  However, if the OP is so inclined he should attend the dealer personally and make a scene, a big one.  Perhaps an OCCUPATION.  :)

How about "Sorry Mr. So-and-So, they keys I promised you are back ordered and they won't be in for another several weeks".

Really hard, isn't it??   ::)  You're acting like it's SOOO hard to make a 1 minute phone call/e-mail just to keep a customer in the loop for promises that were made.  And the car being 10 years old has nothing to do with it.  You make a promise to your customer, you keep it.  Period.  (I know that's a bit much to ask for in your line of work though.)

The customer is never in the loop.  :)   The key has not been ordered nor was there ever an intention to order the key.  If this was a quality seller, the car would not have been offered for sale until both keys materialized and the mirror fixed.

And the car being 10 years old has nothing to do with it.

It has everything to do with it on so many levels.   You have such a short memory.  Remember those dudes that sold you that "accident" free IS350?  :)

My IS350 was accident free.  There was a body panel that was painted.  :)  As every car salesman knows, paint doesn't equal accident, right??   :rofl2:
And whether a car is 1 year, 10 years or 100 years old has nothing to do with keeping your word to a customer.  But that's just me.

I guess I would suck as a car salesman since I would be true to my word.  It must really kill you guys to try and tell the truth, eh?

How fast were you "passing" her?

i was accelerating towards 50 at that point.   at the time, i had just made a left turn into 1 way, so i wasn't going very fast.  left lane traffic was just going very slowly.

speaking of clueless driver.  mazda 3 with high beams on was on my tail on my morning commute for almost half way to work. somehow, after passing construction zone, i ended up behind her, so i quickly flashed her my high beam.  she moved over after couple of kilometers, but still had high beams on.

do they NOT SEE the blue flashlight icon on their instrument panel?  and a few drivers without any lights on at all.  6 in the morning, pitch dark.. no lights..
Sucks about the M3!

Drivers with their freaking headlights on is my biggest pet peeve at the moment. I'm constantly being blinded by people who either have their headlights adjusted to point towards the moon or they just leave their high beams on assuming that "it's dark outside and I want to see". Whatever it is... it's definitely annoying. The driving without lights I can understand a bit better... some cars have illuminated driver instruments no matter what the time of day is and the DRLs are so bright that you initially don't think about it. Still if someone flashes their lights at you then you should check your instruments. Alas people aren't that smart :)

I agree it's quite annoying and drivers really should notice if the blue icon is on or not, but I doubt many of these instances are done on purpose. I find the biggest issue in some new vehicles is that when you use the turn signal for some reason it's very easy to inadvertently turn on the high beams at the same time. I've noticed this recently haven driven the new Mazdaspeed3, previous gen Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, and Nissan 370Z. More than once when I signaled in each of those vehicles the high beams somehow got turned on. Unlike most people, I noticed right away and turned them off.

Anyway, back on topic, sorry to hear about the M3 aqua. Glad no one was hurt!

thanks, guys, for symphathies.

 :)

i still shake with anger whenever i think about the incident.  i do have bigger things to worry about, as it turns out, but my car's still not 100%...

quick update, though.   i had issues with my steering wheel shaking on highway after the bodyshop "fixed" it.  took it back to bodyshop.  they said they balanced it, and i asked them to check alignment again..   it still shook.  so, i took my car to kal-tire and had it road-force balanced.  it doesn't shake anymore, but there's a bit of vibration now.  but it is much better.  i can actually feel things on the road thru the steering wheel, whereas i couldn't before due to shaking.

i had them zip-tie the leveling sensor to the lower a-arm so that i can actually see where i'm going at night, temporarily, as the part is ordered.
