My M3 in collision, no one hurt, but i'm sad...
« on: September 17, 2011, 07:42:04 pm »
because was in an accident 5 hours ago.

some ...... xxx that has no clue how to drive side swiped my car..  in an effort to avoid contact, i maneuvered right into a pedestrian guard post ruining my passenger side wheel, bumper and fender..
the douchebag hit my driver side fender. and wheel.

i laid on my horn for what seemed like forever, slammed on my brake, and the girl still hit my car.

i was blocking traffic for probably around 2 hrs, because my passenger side front wheel is facing the wrong way.  and even though i have 4 way flasher on, and on 2 cell phones at the same time, some of the by-drivers lay on the horn at me.  WTF?  it's saturday, and we are in downtown..  there's no traffic, lay off!.

girl that hit me stopped  across intersection, comes over then asks me why i hit her from behind...   WTF?  i ask her, 'did you not hear my horn?'  she says no...  it's not like m3's horn is weak..  it's pretty loud..      tells me she's a new driver..  ...yeah..  probably texting away. while i lay on my horn and hit the freaking post.

i can't even see any damage on her car, because it's 90's corolla thats beat to sh1t, there's scratches and dings everywhere, you can't see where she hit my car...

called the insurance, cops, tow trucks..   the girls 'boyfriend' shows up, tells me it's my fault, since i was behind..  ..  seriously dude..  my driver side fender was hit...

waited in the cold for more than 2 hrs for all this to go down..  picked up my rental, had lunch, came home.  i'm still shaking with anger...  :'(   my passenger was so shaken, she had trouble standing for a while.

this, after i spent more than 3 hours, cleaning and polishing and waxing the car yesterday.....    just my luck.

but nobody was hurt, and with my luck, i should be thankful for that..

i'm still mad as heck...  cleaning the other car as a meditation.

the one who hit me ...her rear passenger side fender is bent, but i'm not sure if it's from hitting me or from general lack of driving ability..

by the way, m3 does NOT stop on a dime..   i was going less than 50, and it took more than couple of meters.  hence why i hit the dang post.

you can see my tire mark..   i was stopped at that point.   didn't wanna block traffic, so i tried to move the car, and front wheel isn't pointing where my steering is.. so i stopped again.

by the way, you can see from my gleaming paint, that i worked my azz off cleaning it..   all paint is pretty smooth now, whereas before, it was pretty rough.    :(

looking at the pictures brings back the pain..  thinking of my car sitting all by itself in repair shop parking lot is painful too...

and thinking about all that time spent looking for a car that was never in an accident, in good condition, makes me sad again...................   now both fenders are damaged where none were before!!!.

 :-[ :-X :-\ :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
i want to cry.

What indication did the PoPo give as to fault?

Well that blows. Always a big fear when you get something nice. I only had my brand new motorcycle a couple of weeks when some ninny decides at the last minute to ignore her own signal and go straight to get a slightly better parking spot. Down I go, crash, various shattered plastic pieces scattered on the ground around me. Never happened on my beatup old machine.

initially, i thought there were no contact with the other car.. i thought i successfully evaded her, but didn't stop in time to miss the post, but i later saw the driver side fender.

police report says driver 1 (the other driver) side swiped driver 2 (me).  i called insurance prior to even noticing driver side fender..  i called again after talking to Popo to amend my claim and they said they couldn't do it until i talk to adjuster..

i have 2 witnesses.   my girl friend and a passer by who didn't see clearly, but heard my honk and crash and saw my car stopped originally by the post.

police report says driver 1 (the other driver) side swiped driver 2 (me).

That should be good enough to get you clear of any insurance rate increases.

From the photos I don't think the Ins. will pop for new fenders.  Most likely a bang out and bondo job being a 2001.  Definitely sucks.

OK, how does high grade fine FILLER sound.  ;)

Look at it this way.  What would you rather have happen today? :

a.  this most unfortunate collision or

b.  waking up with your left nut missing?

I'd take "a" all year long.  ;D

if they can make the original factory fenders back to 100 percent, and paint match the whole front end, (along with new wheel and alignment) i'd be happy with that.
but if not, i want new fenders.  :P  (just so everybody knows i'm not a greedy schmuck, wheel i scuffed is passenger side rear. today's collision bent my FRONT passenger rim.)

i had the car for less than 400 km, and this happens.  my luck just isn't good...

Get a good shop to look after your car. Look something up on the M3/BMW forums.

This sucks, glad to hear no one was hurt. I have a few similar incidents in the S2000 lately and people look at wondering why I'm on the horn  ??? luckily I had clear escape routes.

The chances of a new fender are pretty low. They will see if they can repair it, if not they will look for used fenders and only if they strike out on those 2 would you get new fenders.

I am very glad you are OK. The worst thing about my job is that I am constantly viewing pictures of vehicles that are in terrible accidents. My reaction of "that's not too bad" has a different threshold than many.

It does so often seem that just when we get something new someone effs it up.

I've read your original post twice and I still don't get what happened....am I missing something? Was she coming up from behind while you were stopped? Were you passing her on the inside? Or was she going in the other direction and came over in your lane?  ???

Anyway...sorry to hear about your trouble.

Rotten news, but glad it's only the car that's smashed up.
