Kid stroller / bike trailer options
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:39:05 am »
So my boys is 14 month soon and I am in the market for a running stroller that converts into a bike trailer. I know of a few options, the chrariot for instance and MEC. What do people recommend?
I don't really have a budget but I would rather spend about 300 then the 500- 900 the chariots are going for.
Used is also an option but I have found that people are asking anywhere from 50- 90% for a used chariot and some are pretty beat up.
In a world where the dead are returning to life, the word "trouble" loses much of its meaning.

For $300 I suggest being patient and buying a quality stroller used.  We scored a nice trek stroller for that price including all the walking attachements, covers, etc.

The cheaper strollers don't have a strap system that is suitable for younger toddlers.

We have this one.  It's a lot less expensive than the Chariots.  It works well enough, we have no complaints.

Keep an eye on the ads, I've seen it go on sale for cheaper.

We had a Chariot trailer, with the jogger and stroller kits.  Of the many THINGS one needs to buy for an infant these days, we regarded this as the best of all of them.  Yes, they're expensive, but when you're done with it, you can sell it for 60-75% of what you paid for it.  Because of the large rear wheels, it makes a better stroller than real strollers, also.  So you don't need to buy a multi-hundred$$ stroller.

We also had a Chariot. Sold it a few years later for about 75% of the value to someone in the Ottawa funny enough.
Here's a tip for you. Send Topgun a PM...he has a Chariot in his garage not being used and I don't think they are having any more kids. :shuffle:

I ended up getting a used chariot cougar 2 for $100. I had to clean it up and fix a flat tire but my son seems to like it so I do as well.

All I ask is that you only  use it to run or pull behind a bike. For the sanity of the rest of the population do not take it to the zoo, mall, attraction, etc. Buy a simple umbrella stroller for $20

Well we now have the chariot, a bumboride stroller and an $80 umbrella stroller which gets used for most of our travailing needs so ok strange request but I think I can accommodate you.

We recently got back from Disneyland and I have had my fill of clueless parents with double wide Chariot type running strollers. Equivalent of commuting in a 5 ton box truck...
