Car Inspection. What should be inspected?
« on: September 15, 2011, 02:50:09 pm »
Hello, I'm looking for a used car and I had a friend recommend a person who inspect cars.
After using his services I feel He didn't do much. I asked him if he should lift the car to remove the wheels check the bottom, Engine pressure, etc...

He said he doesn't need to. Anyway that's another story

My question is what should be inspected when purchasing a used car?
Is there a list somewhere to check?
thanks
Marc

If I don't know a mechanic or shop locally, I'll take the car to its brand dealer.  For example, when I was looking at Porsches, I had a pre-purchase inspection done on the car at a Porsche dealer.  I've had other cars inspected at Lexus dealerships also.  Most of them have some type of pre-purchase inspection they can do, and it's like a giant check-list.
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....
