Help me choose a new car.
« on: September 10, 2011, 04:18:53 pm »
Those are my choices. I drove them all like them all.
The new Jetta will be the most expensive but I could see the saving in gas at the end since I drive 35K km/year.
The Cruz surprisingly has a very very nice interior.
The Golf has 210K km on the odo but recently had lots of maintanance done to it. This will be private sale and the guy is asking $10K for it.

So help me out guys.

The Chevy. Since you will be spending a lot of time inside the car, a nice(r) interior is the better choice.

Cruze since the new Jetta has been cheapened in every possible way.
P.S. did you drive the Elantra?

I would take a new Golf in a heartbeat. This generation has been quite reliable and the car drives beautifully. The interior is superb and the diesel makes stump-puller torque. The car carries a certain amount of cachet, too.

Finally, should your love affair with your car wane in a few years, a well maintained Golf TDi will command a good resale vallue.

Edit: I would not buy a used diesel under any circumstances. The Golf is less money than the Jetta and is, in my opinion, a better car.

I'm not sure if you're referring to a new Golf, but as of 2012, a Golf is no longer less money than a Jetta; but I agree that it is a better car.
