hmm... original face may be generic, but was sharper.   i don't mind the new corporate face but they could have sharpened it up a bit for the gen coup.

Would you like them better if they are for the V8 version that is rumored? :D

Don't call me a hater here but does Hyundai ever design anything with a subtle pen?
A great car company, I just wish they would tone things down a touch.

Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies running around with tattoos?

The Genesis Sedan may be derivative, but it is certainly conservative.

You know, with all of the generic and bland designs out there from various manufacturers, I actually find it a breath of fresh air to see a company's designs a little more out there.  While it's not everyone's cup of tea, it's definitely paid dividends for them in the last year or two.

Yep - they did bland for a good long time.  They're doing better with bold.  That said, I kind of feel this Genesis Coupe redesign could be toned down a touch to a net design benefit.

Their current design is about as good I've seen from them. In the past their designs could not be called anything approaching bland.

The Tiburon I agree with, however the rest of their line up wasn't exactly "eye catching".......or at least not to my eyes.

Sure - those are sporty coupes - post up some pics of the previous generation volume sellers -  Elantra, Sonata, Accent.... then we can talk about bland.

I'm an enthusiast, I've never been interested in sedans and econo-boxes - and gas mileage is not the criteria for which I choose a car. ;)
I'm sure this new car will sell like hotcakes but, as you said yourself, wish they would just tone things down a bit.

Maybe it's not a production car? Aside from the scoops I think it's a sportier and hotter version of the self. I definitely prefer the redone front, even tho it seems like now a more common corporate face. With at least the Sonata's 2.0T output it will be hard to catch, in every way.

We're still far from the unveiling. Given that the 2013MY is a facelift (i.e. no new hard points, just plastic fascia changes), they could graft on any number of noses to "test the waters." For all any of us know, this thing could look RADICALLY different from this come production.

I'm going to reserve final judgment until the actual auto show unveiling. I have a sneaking suspicion that things like the hood scoops won't make production.

I like the new face (the current face is the worst part of the design for me, especially the grille), but I could do without the hood scoops.

It has proven difficult to move away from generic styling.  Many see "bold" and "good" styling as the same thing...I might use Audi as doing s great job of being able to achieve both.
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

As pointed out in our previous story, it is believed that the refreshed Genesis Coup will get Hyundai's newer and more powerful 3.8-liter V6 engine with direct-injection that generates 333 horsepower and a peak torque of 291 lb.-ft, along with the option of an 8-speed automatic transmission.

This is good, but personally I'm more interested in the 2.0T version. The turbocharged motor from the new Sonata would sure be nice...

That would make for a pretty good one-two punch.  Unless the DI 3.8 is to become the base engine, and a 400-plus hp 5.0 V8 the new top motor.

Designing a good looking grill while maintaining brand identity is a hit or miss affair .
Hyundai misses the mark here .
Fords new upcoming design theme , shown in this concept --- not to provoke but to seduce is perfect if they can pull it off it in their upcoming models .
