Yes, you would have to also pay duty (~ $65) and maybe provincial tire tax ($12).  Driving to Plattsburg, after taxes and duty, you might only end up saving just over $150 - you still have to pay for gas!

1010Tires (CA), Costco (CA), JC Whitney (US), TireRack (US) and TireTrends (CA) have superior tire pricing. U.S. and Mexico made wheels and tires do not attract Canadian import duties. Watch for online coupon codes. Be alert for stealth charges, excessive shipping costs, and courier brokerage fee and freight insurance ripoffs. Some charge provincial sales and eco taxes, others not. Tires are sale priced in April and October. House brand tire performance is unverifiable. Chinese tire quality is inconsistent and often dangerously substandard. TireRack closes out winter tires in the Summer.

Well I put 2 of the steelies I bought (the ones with offset of 47) on the front and back of on side of the car. Took and drive and did a number of turns with wheel fully cranked in both directions. Also took car on a brief highway run. Everything seemed fine the car felt good and there was no rubbing.

I think I am convinced these wheels will be ok for my car based on this test and the fact that the guy I bought them off of ran them on a 2008 328Xdrive.

Popped the hubcaps on and the look was pretty OK.

Living my BMW dream.

Hey slybry, I replyed on your other post, but here is some more information.

Don't buy used.  Look for a good package deal at one of the local tire shops.  They have the tire/wheel thing all figured out.  Let them do the math.  After all, that is what you are paying them for.  I bought my winter tire and wheel package for about $1700 installed.  I doubt that you will find good used for much less than that.  And I am always VERY leary about used tires and wheels.  They are just too important a component to mess with.  I have always thought that my safety is worth the extra couple of hundred dollars!

After all the confusion over weather my wheel would fit or not, I went to highly recommended tire place to check out the price of brand new steelies and tires. He checked the books for correct rim. He took a wheel off car to confirm the new rim he had would fit the car. He said it was perfect. I was going to buy them until I ask if I could look at rim to check offset. Sure enough the offset was 47. That is the exact same offset as the rims I have. That is when I decided to fit my rims on the car and see how they fit.

There does not seem to be any issues except a slightly narrower track. Like I said, the guy I bought rims off of had been using them on a 2008 328XI for a few years.

I agree buying used tires can be a roll of the dice. But if your careful and only buy tires that are like new there is lots of money to be saved.

I am looking to buy a used set of tires. What I look for is a set that a virtually brand new but just being sold because owner either sold car or upgraded to larger size wheel. If I am patient I will find a set and most likely pay 50% of what I would pay new.

I got my friend's daughter a set of OEM alloys with tires that were like new for her Mazda 3 for $550.00. You could not have even got the tires for that.

I agree you have to be patient... and careful when buying used, but I have sold a set of excellent used tires + steelies myself, so I know buyers can get a good deal.  I may even have a set of BMW OEM sport package alloys (my winter set) to sell next year...  I take excellent care of my cars, my alloys never have curb rash, my neighours want to buy my cars...  so whoever will buy them will get a good deal compared to new, even if they won't be cheap.

I'm glad what you bought fit slybry.  Now I hope you enjoy.  :)

Julie, I'd be interested in those OEM sport pkg alloys for either snows or track wheels for my car.

Just saw this message now GD.  I would only selling them after this winter (I will be deciding what to do with the coupe early next year, so want to wait before selling these) - would you still be interested then?

Some info:  they are the OEM 17" wheels from the 328i sedan with sport package.  Except I did not get a staggered set-up, but rather 2 pairs of front wheels (as recommended by the dealer).  They are fitted with top-rated performance winter tires, Blizzak LM-25.  The set was put together by dealer (I just told them the wheels I wanted and the tires I wanted).

I loved the way they look on the sedan, so I bought them.  But they don't look as good on the coupe I find...  doesn't seem to go with their shape as well.

They're currently wrapped in their winter totes, but here's some quick picks of the model I grabbed off the web.  I would photograph mine them in detail after they've been dismounted and washed after this winter.  Their condition is currently flawless, but I would also examine and re-state their condition when I'm ready to sell.

Searching for part number 163701 shows that this is a rim for the e46.

Not sure where you looked this info up but I now found wheels for sale with p/n 6775592. I was wondering how to confirm these are for E90 and have proper offset. I have come up empty trying to find answers on Internet.

thanks

Update: This saga is finally over. I bought these rims last night. The part number on rims was 164301. I not sure where seller got the other p/n. Anyways they are the correct offset (34) for my E90.

I will now sell the other set of E46 rims I had previously bought. I could never get comfortable with the fact that the offset was not right for my car.
