I enjoy reading the responses  ;D

Mike got close. My reasoning was similar to his.

I got Mitsu Lancer with a stick. So far, I'm very happy.

The only downside is that road noise on a highway is quite noticeable. I wish Mitsu had put more sound insulation.
Fuel economy has been great so far. It seems that the engine is tuned so that fuel economy does not suffer when the car is driven at high engine speeds.

I will post the photos once I have some free time during the day.

You would've been better off with a Mazda5, IMO... but whatever floats your boat!

Wow.  The posts on this thread are ridiculous!

What’s the problem with a single guy caring about what his car will look like to women??  We ALL care what our cars look like (to some degree).  Otherwise why have car designers at all?  It’s not like you appreciate the exterior of your car while you drive it.  Car purchases (in varying amounts) or emotional choices and styling can be a big factor.  A Ferrari (or Aston or Lambo, etc) would be less desirable if it still had the same performance but looked like a Mazda5 (no offense to the 5).

I’m not saying it’s all about what others think of the appearance, but certainly that’s at least part of it.  Maybe a very small part for married, fathers of 6; And a much larger part for a single, 20something.

Did you all die inside after 5+ years of marriage or were you born this way???

To the OP:  Hopefully that Lancer helps you score with one of their daughters.

Enjoy.

I care what my vehicles look like for my own personal taste... But, what others (ie. women if I was single) think of me and my car has zero effect on my decision. I seriously question anyone that bases his car buying decision on how it'll be perceived by women... that's a clear sign of personal issues or lack of confidence, IMO.

Maybe the OP just wants to get laid? If he thinks a specific car will help him attain his goal - all the power to him to let him try. It might not be for you (or I) but why come down with a holier-than-thou attitude?

Every day you put on clothes, brush your hair, shave - all in an attempt to maintain and project an image. An automobile, in many facets, is no different than clothing. Your car, whether you acknowledge it or not projects an image. Hitting the gym and wearing and tight shirt might not be for everyone - even laughable once you get older - but if it helps you score or "attract women" at the bar when you're 22 (and that's your goal), great. If a particular car helps a guy in his 20s attract women that's great too.

Some people wear elastic-waist sweatpants, sneakers, and food-stained t-shirts because they don't care how they look to others. Some people wear a nicely cut suit, crisp pressed shirt, shined shoes, and a nice watch because they do care about how they look to others.

Some people drive a beater, others a luxury sedan.

Does it make sense for that person in the sweat pants to have a holier-than-thou attitude about the guy who takes pride in the way he looks?

I'd call the guy in the sweatpants a slob and the the well-dressed guy successful - just based on appearance that's the first impression and you know what they say about first impressions.

Disagree.  I think the OP is better off with whatever vehicle he likes best.   :)

Please stop portraying your opinion is better then others.  You started with your choice in vehicles and now you are branching out to choice of lifestyles (here) and moralities (carcrazy's ticket thread).  People have different opinions, different priorities and different lifestyles; deal with it.

It's a discussion forum, and I'm discussing... if you don't want to hear other people's opinions, you better find another place to spend your time on the internet...

Oh, and I've never said my opinion was better than anyone else's...

I have a 2008 Mazda5 and it's definitely the best-looking, coolest minivan out on the market.
It gets much better fuel economy than the Tribute and it's better-looking, too.
It's really practical too.
We've had ours for over 3 years and 70,000 km and we haven't had any problems at all.
I (and my preteen kids, who think nothing's cool!) highly recommend it.

The GTS? the hatch?
[/quote]

I wish... I've got the ES.

There are no used GTS models for sale in my area. And I haven't seen a single used hatch for sale with exception of one Ralliart for $ 27.9K  :(

GTS would be a perfect choice. I like the way the current hatch model looks. For whatever reason, people do not seem to get the idea. I am yet to see one on the street.

Here's my car :)

Everybody knows that red cars attract women just as red flowers attract hummingbirds.   ;)
Nice shade of red as well!

I'm not an SUV-type guy. I looked at Tribute because Mazda had promotion on trying to get rid of them. I also test drove 2005 Nissan X-Trail. I like the appearance of the X-Trail. Still, not my pair of shoes.
As a boy I, like many boys, wanted to become a truck driver. I've ended up in a different calling. Sometimes, I think what would have happened had I realized my early childhood career choice...
I respect and admire the guys who drive those big rigs across Canada. I wonder how it feels.
An SUV? No, thanks. It's too small for a truck and too big for a car. Just IMO, no intention to insult anyone's feelings.

If I was young and single and looking to pick up chics, Id have two vehicles in my garage :
1) A tuned import, flashy with lots of horsepower to get the slutty, tire :censor: type of women(Skyline, Supra, Impreza, Lancer, M3.....)
2) a Jeep Wrangler thats modified for offroading/camping/exploring to attract a normal, marrying type of girl.

I cant believe there were people on here advising a young guy to get a Tribute/Mazda 5. The tribut screams "one day Ill get the full time night shift and be able to afford a real SUV" and the 5 screams "I only have custody of the children during the weekend". Good on ya man, Lancer is an ok car.
