Second Race!

Today was my second race.  WeatherNetwork called for 0% chance of rain so it POURED!

Practice was a very wet track and I was the only one driving fast, the other cars were really chickening out -- and that's usually me in the rain.

The track started to dry out a bit in practise.  After the practise I got a qualifying lap, again came in 2nd, this time I actually didn't push because I didn't want to be 2nd or first I wanted to start back a bit.   Oh well ended up second anyways because the track dried out and I was fast.

Then they flipped the grid around differently this time.  First started third, third started first everyone else the same.  So I started second.  My buddy Geoff was in first so I taunted him a bit about his rear view and we were off.

He's usually very fast, but I think the damp conditions threw him off a bit because he started the race pretty slow and then fell back in the pack.  I passed him and that was it, I looked in my rearview and had one car keeping up for one lap.  Then I noticed the track was drying out and I opened up the taps.   Pulled out a good 3-5 second lead and then shut it down and paced myself to victory!

He was slow anyways and just got in the way.  Video may be ready sooner it's down uploading just processing now.  Listen carefully to video at 5:20  I downshift from what I thought was 5th to 2nd, crap pants and then realize it is 6th PHEW! 

EDIT boourns, says 35 min for processing.  Ah wells bed time!

How could you mistake 5th to 6th for 5th to 2nd?  The engine would have been SCREAMING if it was 2nd, no??

I remember when I bought my '91 prelude, I did a 5th to 2nd downshift on my first highway trip while attempting a pass.  It was supposed to be a fifth to fourth.  RPM screamed past redline and the front tires chirped, like I had slammed on the brakes.  Quite embarrassing.  Felt like such a rookie  :-[.

I'd feel more confident with ESC in the rain that's for sure I could potentially go faster because I could just floor it and let the computer sort it out instead of having to find the traction limit myself.

Although having complete control is more fun!
