These go for $22Gs for a 3-4 year old model.  They sound awesome.

Agreed - those Jeep's have one of the best honkin' V8 notes anywhere...

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet on this thread, but have you folks heard about what's coming? A diesel Cherokee... OUTSTANDING fuel economy (better than the mileage I got out of my crappy little 4 cyl VW in the 90's that got 100HP) and the torque of a thousand trojan horses! That is my next vehicle for sure... I don't know why anyone would buy another Cherokee model.

We will be getting pretty much the same model that is sold in Europe (they'll need to make some adjustments due to different emission standards)

From UK Jeep site:

COMBINED MPG (L/100KM)
34.0 (8.3)

EXTRA URBAN MPG (L/100KM)
39.2 (7.2)

URBAN MPG (L/100KM)
27.4 (10.3)

Well the JGC idea went out the window after some debate on whether or not I wanted to keep my licence intact.  A mental image of it being loaded on a flatbed while a friendly OPP officer wrote me a massive ticket convinced me to give up the idea.  I ended up with a new MDX which I bought after a few calls from the Acura Sale Rep last September.  They were able to offer significant discounts on the few remaining 2011 models just as the 2012s we launched.  Mine was one of the last 2011's off the line, built last September and I had delivery a few days after it was built.  They gave me $10,400 off MSRP plus a great trade price for a Dodge Grand Caravan we had in the driveway that was paid for.  I got the Technology package which includes NAV, rear DVD screen, etc.  The dealer tinted the front windows to match the rear sides which looks much better (after the pics below were taken) and they put in the remote starter which I have used maybe twice so far this winter.

Not that everyone hasn't seen a million MDX's but here are a few crappy cell pics the Sales guy sent me after it came off the truck...

Four months into the vehicle I have put just under 3k on it (short commute)!  I like it and it does everything well but its kind of like vanilla ice cream.  Nothing wrong with vanilla but it's not too exciting now is it?  Best feature is probably the ride.  You just don't feel like you are driving a 7 passenger SUV as it corners very flat and none of the spongy, bouncy ride I had gotten used to driving the ML 320 CDI.  Power is fine but I expected a bit more from 300 hp.  Fuel economy is pretty dismal despite having a light foot.  After 7 tanks of premium fuel I am averaging 13.5 l/100kms.  A short 12 km commute is part of the issue I suppose.

There is the update for you!

Well Done and congrats. If I could have convinced my wife to go with a lux SUV vs. the Venza the MDX was it.

If you're looking for fun in an SUV, it's probably the most compelling choice this side of a Cayenne.

Since you don't care how much gas you burn, there's not much downside that I can see.

In the weeks following submitting the order and making a hefty $4,000 deposit, I was contacted several times by the sales rep to tell me there were going to be problems with my order.  First, the HID headlights were back ordered and instead the basic halogens were all that could be ordered.  Then there was a shortage of the pano roof - double sunroof and the adjustable suspension was not going to be made available until mid-2012.  Then they called to tell me the lease price I had been quoted was going up 2% and the iPad mounting docks on the back of the headrests were going to be delayed.

After the third call I cancelled the order and got my full deposit back.  5 months later and the headlights and roof are STILL on back order !!!

Last time I ever factory order a new model before the release date.

I wonder how much of diff it would been between the Venza and MDX with that discount

Ouch...enough frustration there to turn anybody off!

Hope you're enjoying the MDX

MSRP $57990
Paid $47590

Plus freight and some tax but saved quite a bit on taxes with the trade.

This was a cash deal not a lease.  Buying an Acura makes more sense than leasing due to the very low kms I put on a vehicle.  Just another reason I didn't go with a lease on a new ML.

I think the MDX is very overpriced at $57k but decent value at $47k.

Then there was a shortage of the pano roof - double sunroof and the adjustable suspension was not going to be made available until mid-2012.

I was playing around with the Grand Cherokee configurator the other night was was wondering why the offered both a normal sunroof and the pano roof. It didn't make sense to me that anyone would order the normal sunroof when the pano was just $200 more. I guess this explains it.

There were actually three cars on my radar last fall, the SRT8, the CTS-V wagon, the ML andi went with none of them!

The first two I gave up on because I like my kids and didn't want them to be fatherless after getting myself arrested doing double the speed limit on the 407.  I thought I would go with another  ML but cancelled that order for the reasons noted above.

The Acura was the sensible choice and as I noted above I like it but it's a wee bit boring.  Dropped the kids at school this morning and there were 3 MDX's parked side by side in the parking lot.  A popular kid limo.

These go for $22Gs for a 3-4 year old model.  They sound awesome.

One of my dealers just took in a 2010 with low km for $38k.

Rough book Ontario is $34k, I'd get out my cheque book yesterday if there was one for $22.
