Looks pretty good all around, although something about the interior design just doesn't sit well with me. The steering wheel looks too Chevrolet.

 :)

^^ That steering wheel is the first 'cheap' detail I noticed too.
Excellent selection of the power plants. Good they didn't drop the smooth V6 that works on regular.
This should make a great 3 y.o. bargain.

Where is the V?
The V has always come later hasn't it?

I love the lines on the ATS. It's clearly related to the CTS and the new XTS but it has some of it's own lines.

ATS with the turbo will have a 6-speed manual.

That 2l turbo manual is definitely on my list of cars to test drive this year.  I wonder what the price point will be compared to the 328 2l turbo.  I think BMW will be bringing a detuned version of the 2l turbo which I'm sure many people will be re tuning it with more power than the 328.

2L turbo with a 6 spd and rear wheel drive.....oooohhhh, that sounds like a great used car buy. Good job Caddy, youve finally intrigued me.

SO MUCH POTENTIAL!

Looking forward to the driving reviews and seeing it for myself in D-Town. Let's hope there's a V in the works!

Looking forward to seeing it as well in Detroit on the weekend  :) It will take a big effort to match the M3 with a V model but the CTS-V was well executed.

The 3.6 I experienced in the SRX really impressed me.  Good, smooth, snarly engine with ample power.  In a much smaller and lighter vehicle, it should be a lot of fun.

http://www.inautonews.com/2013-cadillac-ats-pricing-announced-starts-at-33990

the merican pricing of the ATS

It undercuts the pricing of the 3 Series by $910.  Is that enough to get someone to buy a Caddie instead of a 3 Series?

GM is gonna need the most agreeable lease rates in the industry to move this sucker.

I find this is hilarious, and agree with parts of it.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/05/how-gm-could-save-the-cadillac-ats-from-its-otherwise-inevitable-fate-of-complete-marketplace-failure/

Pricing this new market segment entry to be about equal to the BMW, typical and predictable arrogance in my opinion. However yes, if the lease rates reflect that arrogance too, making the future market value their problem, then maybe a decent number will end up on the street. Or not, in which case it will bomb and GM will blame it on something other than themselves.

Hyundai/Kia took marketshare away from the Japanese by pricing their cars below those brands while trying to make better and better cars. That should be (I think is) the pricing strategy of GM with Cadillac. The CTS is cheaper than the German three, Lexus and Infinity if you factor in rebates and compare similarly equipped mid-sized sedans.

Be honest, which of you would actually buy the ATS instead of any of these at the same price: 3 Series, A4, C Class, G37, GS...IS?

That depends on whether the car is any good or not. If it is, I would, if it isn't I wouldn't.
