2013/2014 Cadillac ATS
« on: August 04, 2011, 11:19:36 am »
So the first teaser shot of the 3-Series/A4/G-Series/IS/C-Class competitor has been revealed.  The Michigan built Cadillac is built on a new Cadillac specific RWD/AWD platform.

Engine choices are rumored to be a 2.0L Turbo 4 making 270HP, a 3.6L DI V6 making 330HP and in 2014, a 6.2L LS3 making 470HP.  We'll have to wait and see but all 3 engines seem to be aimed at the 328, 335, M3.

The two smaller engines get 8 speed autos as well.

Very interesting. Here's hoping they sweat the details and actually make a 3 series competitor.

I know I want to know as well.  I'll take a ATS V6 for 40K

Sounds promising. And what little I can see doesn't look half bad, either.

If they can keep the weight of the 4 cyl one down to under 3300 lbs and keep the weight distribution at 50-50 it may well be a rather nice car.   if there are any shortcomings in the suspension and tires that will soon be fixed by the aftermarket.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Is it weird that I think the 2.0L turbo sounds the most interesting even if that is meant to be the base model? I'm glad to see Cadillac go into the smaller sedan area and match up with the 3 series and A4. I always liked the small luxury cars the most.

I see the transmission shifting type device you write of but I'm not so sure ot looks like a manual shifter, more of an automatic shifter.

It's an automatic shifter with a leather boot... :( At least Cadillac isn't the only one making small luxury sedans, and at least you can get their bigger CTS in a manual.

Everything looks good (especially the interior) except for the trunk lid.  Doesn't look too bad from the side but from the back ... yish.  Hopefully, it looks "better" in person.

The NA 4 cylinder 2.5L seems odd but would be an absolute winner if they can start it below $30k.

Overall it looks pretty good, although I despise the rear.  Just something about it doesn't look right whatsoever.  Interior looks extremely nice, especially with all of the colour choices.  At the end of the day though, I'd still never buy a Cadillac.
