Honda CRV FWD - Gas Mileage
« on: August 03, 2011, 09:27:18 am »
If you have a 2007, 2008 or 2009 Honda CRV front wheel drive, what mileage do you get in city and in highway driving.  I read that real world mileage is less than what Honda or Natural Resources Canada put on their sites i.e. city 27 mpg and hwy 39 mpg.  Thank you again.

I have the 1st generation CR-V and I believe the newer ones are better in that respect, but I get 27 to 30 MPG no matter what I do...city or highway (65 MPH). In the winter, I'll get as little as 23 MPG if there is a lot of snow day after day.

A practical vehicle, but unless they offer a diesel as they do in Europe, I won't be buying one.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

I'm not an owner, but seems like people are reporting around 24 mpg average. I have seen very few vehicles that perform to their NRC or EPA ratings.

Aren't those mileage ratings based on a US gallon? If so, multiply by 1.2.

Agreed.  It is very rare for the Forester or Sienna (or any of the others before them) to get the NRC ratings, they are rather, um, optimistic, to say the least  ;D  Good for the OP to be asking for real world numbers from actual drivers

True enough. That's why I like referring to this fueleconomy.gov site. Not only can you select "L/100Km" if you prefer, but you also get the added benefit of user-added mileage ratings.

Thank you for sharing the fueleconomy.org site.  An excellent tip.

Finally a fuel consumption site that gives real world gas usage.

An interesting site, but for our Forester its a bit off.  They say:

11.8 city; 9.0 hwy

but I get mid 8's for the highway, with an average over the 80,000 kms I have been tracking the fuel consumption of 9.3.

Also interesting to see that the Annual Fuel Cost is the same for the 5 speed manual and automatic but the 5 speed gets better fuel economy on the highway.  Not sure whats going on with that.

However, its probably the best that is out there.  Just remember your results may vary  ;D
