There are no level roads here, you're always either going uphill or downhill. On any car I've had with cruise control I always left it off because the constant gear-hunting and RPMs bouncing around drove me nuts. My Versa doesn't have it and I really don't miss it at all.

I find locking out the Versa's overdrive on the longer downgrades usually maintains speed well enough so I don't need to be on the brakes too often, and it seems to do the trick on long, relatively gentle upgrades as well. On steeper grades like the ones in the Kootenays or Roger's Pass I drop it into third gear and leave it there until the road levels out. Any other time I just let the transmission do it's own thing, and why not? It is an automatic after all... ;)
