Most Ticketed Cars
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:59:19 pm »
Interesting.  How many do we drive here?

http://www.driving.ca/vancouversun/research-car/news/Gallery+most+ticketed+cars+safest/5107970/story.html

Driving certain models of cars could mean you are more likely to get a ticket, according to U.S. research firm Quality Planning. Here are the 10 most ticketed models, according to the report.

First, 5 least ticketed:
5. Buick LaCrosse
4. Kia Spectra
3. Chevrolet C/K 3500/2500
2. Mazda Tribute
1. Buick Rainier

Now the bad apples   ;D
10 most ticketed
10. Volkswagen GTI
9. Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG
8. Pontiac Grand Prix
7. Acura Integra Coupe
6. Mercedes-Benz CLS-63 AMG
5. Scion xB
4. Hummer H2/H3
3. Scion tC
2. Toyota Camry Solara
1. Mercedes-Benz SL Convertible

No real surprises on the least list, but Scion's and Camry for top 10?

I would have thought STi, Mustang, Camero, etc would have been more likely.

Solara...the mind boggles. All the other stuff I can believe.

Or maybe its a geriatric thing.
Everything in life is relative.

a V-6 Solara is pretty quick.  Anyone driven a 270hp Camry?  The SE model is surprisingly taut and fast.
No place I'd rather be...

If this isn't normalized to sales then Scions on there are even more impressive.
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

Anything with that Toyota 3.5 is pretty darned quick - from a Camry to a Lexus IS to a Rav 4.  I just don't equate Solara drivers with people who are inclined to make USE of all that power, though.

Sometimes chicks need to speed as well. Thelma and Louise comes to mind.
In a world where the dead are returning to life, the word "trouble" loses much of its meaning.

1. Mercedes-Benz SL Convertible

... either the experienced and well-to-do men trying to impress the young opposite sex companions, or their companions ripped them off already and are running away ...

the one on the list that surprises me the least is the Grand Prix... but it has far more to do with the way I see most of them being driven than the car itself.

I notice the poor resale value of the Grand Prix has a lot of young guys buying them, and I see quite a few of them being driven very aggressively.

I'm surprised STi WRX or M3 didn't make it on the list.

There is a popularity quotient to the equation and I'm guessing there are not enough STi and M3 around to be hi on the list. Now if there list comprised of number of tickets per car types on the road then that list would likely look drastically different.

But there are enough Scions, Solaras, and AMG Mercedes. I rarely see any of those on the road (although Scions obviously haven't been officially available in Canada until recently).

The Mercedes-benz SL number 1!.

Could be one of two things:

1 Rich old guy rushing to the motel before the v****a wears off

or
2. Disgruntled wife rushing to the divorce lawyers office.

I call BS on this report. What's the area tested, one particular high-end neighborhood? How could there possibly be enough Mercedes-Benz CLK/S 63 AMGs on the road to be on any top 10 ticket list? These things get more tickets than say, F-150s? Come on.

According to another site, the rankings are based on number of tickets per 100,000 miles driven. How they manage to get the mileage figures for each model is beyond me, but it seems like a more-or-less legit study.

I couldn't find the most recent study, but it looks like they did the same thing back in 2009: http://www.qualityplanning.com/news/2009-articles/what-you-drive-defines-your-driving-style-%28sometimes-to-the-detriment-of-others%29.aspx

Almost all the tickets were for applying makeup using the rear view mirror while driving, and at the same time yapping incessantly with both the passenger and on the cel phone to a dating service.  :rofl2:
