Cost to Replace front "shock absorber and strut" on 2006 Chevy Equinox

What does it cost roughly to Replace front "shock absorber and strut" on 2006 Chevy Equinox (FWD)?

It is in a very bad shape and needs to be replaced and my mechanid has quoted me close to $400 (includes parts and labor)

Is this a reasonable price for something like this?

Is this for both fronts or just one?  I hope both because both should be replaced together.  Cost seems reasonable.
