The battery on the BMW was getting weak so I started looking for a replacement. On a BMW bike forum I came accross info about Li-ion batteries becoming available. Their strong point is that they do not discharge over time and normally do not need a trickle charger. Another advantage is that they are incredibly small and light for the power provided. I decided to give them a try and ordered directly from Shorai. Ordered on a Thursday, received Monday PM and I did select FEDEX Ground, the cheapest way they offer.
The stock battery weighted 10.76 pounds, the Shorai 2.21!!! And I bought the 18 A-H vs the stock 14. The battery is shipped with various thickness foams, with adhesive on 1 side, so you can shim the battery box so that the battery is nice and tight in there.
Bike's start right up and i used to have a battery light for a few seconds after every start up but not anymore. 8.5 lbs saved is better than nothing.
Just tought I'd share...
