The US is a great option if you have cash on hand. If you are going to shop in Canada then a WRX or Mustang GT would be great options.

Go south.  I'll looking south first for my next car.  Multiple forum members have done it.

In addition to the price difference, there's more selection++

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions! But as life would have it, things always happen when you least expect them to. This last week my gf and i purchased a house!! We weren't planning on buying at this time, but it was good opportunity. It's a new construction so we won't be closing till june of next year.

Obviously my car budget has been reduced :'( but c'est la vie!

Anyhow, with my reduced budget, i would like to still get a great car with good performance. I've always liked the E36 M3, however i've been looking at the trader and there aren't that many of them.

I want something maybe a little more rare, something that was considered high-performance in the 90's/early 00's...let's hear some suggestions!!

Thanks!

Dodge Stealth TT, Mazda RX7 (FD series).  You may get a Corvette C5 for that money which is alot of car for the $$. A Subaru WRX STi maybe?  An Acura NSX or Supra is possible too.  Audi S4 (V8)?

If you've got time, maybe start hanging around the bimmer forums (esp. Canadian sections) to see if you can pick up a well-maintained one by a BMW enthusiast.  That would be my first choice as the route to go to pick up a used one.

I thought E36 M3's were considered the worst of the bunch? There are better used cars out there.

Infiniti G35 coupe or sedan if you want to keep the price down, G37 if you're willing to spend a bit more. The G37 coupe looks great and can offers more driving comfort than some of the competition, not to mention it doesn't chug gas like a V8.
