My 2011 Volvo S40 T5
« on: July 02, 2011, 05:20:56 pm »
I guess this is a good time to announce that I've returned my 2007 VW New Beetle and just leased a 2011 Volvo S40 T5 in Black Sapphire Metallic with the Weather Package.

Just to let you know, I'm overwhelmed by how awesome this car is so far.  Extremely quiet and refined, and the T5 engine packs a nice 227hp/236ftlbs of punch.

Lease return experience was very positive as I had no additional charges.  I was also on my original set of tires (80120km) and had plenty of tread left.  AutoVin guy actually thanked me for having such a nice, clean car which made it easy to inspect.

On another note, I'm really surprised that Georgetown VW made very little effort to get me back into a VW.  I was quoted a very high lease price for a 2011 VW Golf Comfortline, and never received another quote from them after I refused to take their first offer, which was just MSRP.  I explained to them that I should receive some sort of loyalty reward for coming back, but never did see one!!  I was finally contacted by them, a few weeks before my official lease end date, but had to inform them that my Beetle had been returned, and that I had gotten into something else.  They really dropped the ball, but in the end, I feel that I was blessed with something better.

Nice Choice!  I hope you enjoy it.

Funny you should mention about your local VW dealer's seeming lack of interest in making a sale. I had a very similar experience here when I was car shopping. Zero follow-up and quotes at MRSP with lots of extras like glass etching and nitrogen in the tires.

Congratulations! Very nice looking car. Volvo's are much underrated. Much better car than most people think. The T5 has a tons of torque, in the S40 must be a blast. Enjoy!

Very nice!!   I got an S60 a couple of months ago and love it.  Drove the T5 as well - Volvo has 2 awfully nice engines with that T5 & T6.
Had a similar indifferent experience with VW when I was shopping - I contacted our local dealer here 3 times and got no response....

Congrats on the new ride - very sharp indeed.  I'm also surprised VW didn't work harder (or at all, really) to retain your business.

Great car! I've always been a fan of these as they seem like a perfect size and still come with a good amount of power.

Thank you all so much!!   :D

Bullet Blue, believe me, it's an honour to be a part of the Volvo family.  I never thought I could ever get into one, but Volvo had, and probably still has, huge cash incentives on most of their models, which brought the lease price down into VW territory.  I wouldn't have even checked them out had VW not ignored me.

Weexy, I absolutely love your S60. What an awesome car it is with that 300HP T6.  Hope you are enjoying it was well as I'm enjoying the S40.

So I see it wasn't just me regarding the lack of initiative that VW now seems to have.  I'm assuming they must be selling a ton of Jetta's which are making the sales staff so complacent.  I was looking forward to playing "the game" with them, but they failed to even show up.

Yep, I'm lovin' it.  That turbo torque is pretty addictive.  I do have to watch the speed as it builds very easily... i've passed some pokemon's a couple of times and looked down to see I was doing about 170... oooppss...  :popo:
My mileage is surprisingly good too.  I'll be interested to hear about your experiences with your S40
I got a very good deal on mine, combined with a good dealer experience and a great car,,, i was sold.

I'll be pleased to share my experiences, once I get some....lol.  I also got an awesome deal on mine.  Right off the hop, there was $3500 off the top.  They then took off the $790 for metallic paint and took off an additional $1000 to bring the lease price down to where I wanted it.  The dealer experience was excellent as they went out of their way for 6 weeks, just to find me a car.  Inventory on the C30 and the S40 were extremely low, and other Volvo dealerships were unwilling to dealer trade, due to their sudden popularity.

Nice car!  What's this, people buying something other than Subaru's!?!   :rofl2:  We might have to re-name the forum again...
