Anytime they screw around with a component that could affect loss of control,  the mechanic has to take it for a ride.  Otherwise, if something happened without road testing the car, he could lose his license.

Many incidents happen right after airplanes have had work done to them.  I always get my mechanic to take it up for a ride first despite the need to have two certified mechanics sign if any work is done with the control surfaces.  Cluck cluck... ;D
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

F that!!  If something goes bad in a car, you might end up in a ditch with a dented car.  In an airplane?  Yea, well.....
