Congrats on the new wheels. Really surprised you would admit to owning an Eagle Premier. :rofl2:

Yup. Only kept it 6 months. When it worked, it was great. Sadly, that wasn't very often.

The interior was very roomy, especially for those days. The seats were very comfy, without being marshmallows. The suspension was typically French (it was based on the Renault 25 and some bits from the 21), soft with a fair bit of body roll, but very well controlled. Decent power from the Peugeot-Renault-Volvo 3.0L V6. And it had a cd of only .31, better than the Taurus inspite of its rectilinear shape.

The downside, there were the also typically French electronics and shoddy engineering. Lots of downtime until I got pissed and traded it for a Jeep YJ, which, believe it of not was much more reliable! ;D
Oh, I've worked on MANY of those cars. What a horrible car. Really felt sorry for so many of the owners were seniors and I'm sure it was going to be their last new car.

If AMC had been in better shape, it might have had better development budgets. As is was, too much was borrowed from the Renault 25 and 21. Really frustrating car to own, especially since they got so much of it right.

On the plus side, my experience with it and the Jeep caused me to check out Consumer Reports and LemonAide for all my other purchases. ;D

I drove a 2011 3.6 Outback a while back and asked myself why anyone would ever take comperable SUV's over it. I came away mighty impressed. Great choice. Interesting to see both generations parked next to each other like that. Quite the size difference!
